This preschool Halloween party is just getting started!🎃

Our youngest patrons are having a good time making crafts, getting their faces painted, and trick-or-treating at different stations throughout the library since early voting is taking place in our Braman Room (go vote🗳, btw). It's a blast getting to see so many amazing costumes. Truly just treats around here!

Just a few days until we get to host another special guest at Penfield Public Library! Local author of "100 Things to Do in Rochester Before You Die," former newspaper reporter, and freelance copywriter Robin Flanigan will talk about her work and latest book, "Secret Rochester: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure."

“Secret Rochester is a reference book like no other, offering a rare, sharply detailed glimpse into what makes this city so intriguing. Whether you’re a lifelong resident or lucky transplant, may the stories within these pages told by journalist Robin L. Flanigan invite you to become more curious about – and excited to be part of – this place we call home.”

Come join Robin for an in-depth exploration of the hidden gems of Rochester that make this such a special area to live in! You can even purchase a copy of her book(s) before her talk begins at 6:30, then get it signed afterwards. You can register at Penfield Public Library's website.

Just a reminder, Awesome Library Patrons:

For those of you who come to Wee Walkers Play Time on Friday mornings, there won't be any Wee Walkers tomorrow, 10/30, due to early voting needing the usual Wee Walkers room.

Speaking of which, there's still time to vote early! The last day of early voting is this Sunday, November 1.

Thank you!

THE HALLOWEEN POP-UP IS HEEEEEEEEEEERE!💀👻🦇🎃

Swing by PPL now or this afternoon around 2 PM to spin the wheel of doom (or delight, depending on your mindset) for a chance to win a small prize, score some candy, and grab some last-minute spooky books or movies for any age!

*heard in the library during pop-up setup*
Staff 1: "Knock knock."
Staff 2: "Who's there?"
Staff 1: "Howie."
Staff 2: "Howie who?"
Staff 1: "Howie going to carry all this candy?"
Staff 3 (conveniently out of sight behind the safety of a cubicle wall): "Booooooooooo!"

It can be a tough crowd around here, but don't worry, we've no bone to pick with our beloved patrons...get it? Bone? Skeleton? Halloween?

It's fine, we'll see ourselves out.

Happy early Halloween!

The books are here! Don't worry, we have way more copies squirreled away than what's shown here.😉 Not so secret, but definitely safe until the big day.

Speaking of which, space is filling up for cartoonist Shauna J. Grant's visit on November 7. If your kiddo is going to attend, please be sure to register them before too long (which you can do at our Penfield Public Library website). Each child in attendance will receive one of Shauna's books to get signed after her talk!🎉

Part 3!

10/23/2026

Part 2 of the latest new book haul!

10/21/2026

It's always a good time to unbox new books!

10/20/2026

Mwa ha haaa! Look who got their latest shipment of fiction, nonfiction, and build-your-own-book-club books!

Can't say the clerks that will be processing them are as excited as the rest of us, but we all agreed the new-book smell of this haul was quite exceptional. These will be trickling out to the shelves over the next few weeks, so keep your eyes peeled and/or place a hold on a title you want online at the Monroe County Library System website.

10/17/2026

Early voting for Monroe County residents kicks off at PPL in just one week. Are you ready to vote? Have you verified your registration status and checked your poll site? Know what races you'll be voting on and who the candidates are? Taken a peek at a sample ballot?

If so, nice job - you get an internet gold star!🌟It will go nicely with your "I voted" sticker.🗳

If not, there's still time. Visit your county's Board of Elections website to find this and lots of other valuable info.

Stop by the Braman Room at PPL to vote early from October 24-November 1 during the following hours:
Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, & Friday: 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
Tuesday & Thursday: 12:00 PM-8:00 PM
