The exploring program is a branch of the Boy Scout's and is designed for youths potentially interested in a career in firefighting or perhaps just as a future volunteer opportunity to serve their community.

Explorer Post 576 is actively looking for additional boys and girls to join their fire explorer program. If you are between the ages of 14 & 21, or know someone who is and may have an interest, please contact us through the QR code or URL below and someone will contact you.

5/28/15, Using our training grounds Fire Explores took the skills that they have acquired in previous drills of search and rescue, as well as RIC Team operations and applied them to this mock evolution of a simulated structure fire.

Explorers ran through 3 evolutions, each containing zero visibility, with the last being a Mayday RIC operation. This is a challenging operation in any situation requiring extensive teamwork and excellent communication skills.

The Explorers did a fantastic job overcoming the challenges and together honed in valuable skills that will benefit them for the rest of their careers both inside and outside the fire service.

Feb 12 2015, using techniques from prior drills Explorers participated in search and rescue at a training maze in a neighboring department. Skills included proficiency in mitigating obstacles such as "wires" that cause entrapment, to performing partial and full escapes to pass through simulated walls. The last evolution consisted of a mock mayday transmittal and subsequent rescue. All these tools, techniques and obstacles are taught in the fire academy and are the same as the real world situations fire fighters can face in a real emergency.
