Let’s have some fun! According to weather folklore, a persimmon seed can supposedly predict what kind of winter is ahead based on the shape of the kernel inside.

🥄 Spoon-shaped: Heavy snowfall is on the way.
🍴 Fork-shaped: A mild winter with light, powdery snow.
🔪 Knife-shaped: Watch out for frigid, cutting winds.

We decided to put this age-old tradition to the test using seeds from a persimmon tree here in the park. Could Alabama be in for a little more winter weather than usual?

Things may look a little different at the park soon! Over the next few weeks, we will be gradually lowering Double Oak Lake’s water level to prepare for upcoming renovation projects.

What you can expect:
• The lake water level will be noticeably lower than normal.
• You may see equipment and crews working in and around the lake.
• Conditions in and around the lake may look different during the renovation process.
• Some areas or activities around the lake may be temporarily affected.

Updates and notices will be posted as needed. We are excited about what these changes will bring to the guest experience. Thank you for your patience and support as we work hard to make your visit great!
