A big thank you goes out to all parents and grandparents who decorated a trunk and handed out candy at our schoolwide Trunk or Treat event. The students had a fun time and enjoyed seeing all of your creative trunks. Thank you to everyone who donated candy for the event as well. We appreciate all you do to support Blackburn Elementary School!

Sixth graders have been busy using Sphero robots to be creative in art class and show what they have learned in science class. Students worked in groups to create collaborative abstract art with Mrs. Winn and Mrs. Wyant. Their art was hung around the school for everyone to enjoy. For Mrs. Settlemyre's science class, they coded the Sphero to move through food chains in the food webs they created. Great job, sixth graders!

As Veterans Day approaches, we would like to take the time to honor veterans from our community. We are excited to invite veterans and their families to join us for breakfast on Friday, November 6, at 8:45 AM. There will be a special program honoring all veterans in attendance at 9:30 AM. To help us prepare for this event, please RSVP by November 4. You can call the school office at 704-462-1344, or email Rebecca Wyant at [email protected] . Include the name of the veteran, the number of family members attending, and the Blackburn student(s) associated with the veteran.
We always include a slideshow of veterans in our program. All veterans who were included in last year's video will be honored again this year. If you have shared a photo and information previously, you do not need to do so again. If there is a veteran you would like to have included in the slideshow, email Rebecca Wyant by November 4. Provide a photo of the veteran, name, branch of military served, rank, and number of years served.
We look forward to hosting this special event in honor of veterans and their families. We appreciate their service, dedication, and sacrifice for our country.

We are looking for sponsors for our Helping Hands Christmas Project. If you would like to sponsor a student, please fill out the interest form. We are asking everyone who sponsors a student to buy two outfits, a jacket, and at least 5 items from their interest section. You can partner with someone else or a group to buy the gifts. You will be contacted by November 13th with more information. Thank you for helping the Blackburn community!

Please fill out this form if you would like to sponsor a child or family for Christmas. You will be sent the student's sizes and interests to use when buying clothing and toys. We are asking that you buy two outfits, a jacket, and at least 5 items from their interest section.
