We are excited to share that Newton-Conover Middle School has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as ranking among the top 40% of middle schools in North Carolina for the fourth consecutive year! Upcoming Events

Monday: N-CMS will host All-County Band Tryouts after school.

Friday: Our 8th-grade students will attend a field trip to see the play Spooky Tales.

November 6: Makeup Fall Picture Day.

Friday: Our final Spirit Day of October! Students may wear costumes that follow all school dress code and safety guidelines.

Costume Spirit Day Guidelines

Students are welcome to wear costumes on Friday, but all costumes must follow school dress code and safety expectations.

No revealing costumes: Bare midriffs, miniskirts, or other clothing that violates the school dress code is not permitted.

No identity-concealing costumes: Costumes that completely hide a student's identity, such as a full gorilla suit, are not allowed.

No masks or full-face makeup.

No props: Items such as weapons, guns, and knives are prohibited.

No unsafe costumes: Costumes must allow students to sit at a desk, move safely throughout the building, walk up and down stairs, and eat in the cafeteria. Inflatable costumes are not permitted.

No offensive costumes.

If you aren't sure, don't wear it or bring it!

Students who do not follow these guidelines will be required to change, or a parent or guardian will be contacted to pick them up.

Athletic News

Please note the following dates and times for winter sports workouts and tryouts:

Boys' Basketball

Optional workouts: October 29–30, 5:00–6:30 PM

Tryouts: November 2–3, 5:00–7:00 PM

Girls' Basketball

Tryouts: October 29, 3:15–4:45 PM

Wrestling

Practice: October 29, 3:10–5:00 PM

Important Reminder: Students must have a current sports physical on file to participate in workouts, practices, or tryouts.

🔨🏆 HAMMER STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: TUCKER L.! 🏆🔨

Tucker L. represents what it means to be a Red Devil! He consistently demonstrates determination and leadership both on and off the field. He never gives up and is always willing to give everything he has for his teammates and the team.

Tucker had a great moment this week against River Bend, taking a kickoff return all the way to the end zone for a touchdown! His effort and willingness to compete make him a valuable part of our program.

Beyond athletics, Tucker continues to work hard in the classroom. He is focused on improving his grades and maintains a strong work ethic in everything he does.

We are proud of the example Tucker sets for those around him. Keep working, keep leading, and keep giving it your all!
