What a wonderful day to celebrate our nation at Milford’s 250th parade, joined by Governor Ned Lamont, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro and US Senator Richard Blumenthal.

Thank you to Mayor Smith for bringing together folks from the community to serve as Milford’s nonpartisan 250th Celebration Committee. Thank you to Economic Development Director, Robert Townes, Committee Chairman former mayor Ben Blake, and all the members of the committee who made yesterday’s events possible

Finally, a special thank you to Tom Hunt! Without Tom we would not have had a parade. He single-handedly arranged for a Coast Guard flyover to start things off, appeared on several radio shows to promote the event, organized all the marchers, ordered and posted the 250th banners we see around downtown and decorated city property in patriotic red, white and blue.

Milford came together in a big way. Happy Birthday America! 🇺🇸 🎉 🎆

On 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟵, 𝟭𝟴𝟲𝟱, enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned they were free, marking the effective end of slavery in the United States, more than two months after the Confederacy's surrender.

𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗵 is a day of profound significance in American history and a reminder that the promise of freedom and equality must always be actively fought for and extended to all people. As Democrats, we remain committed to that ongoing work — building a more just, equitable, and inclusive Milford and nation for everyone.

We couldn't have said it better. Let's acknowledge the courage displayed by some young people today. The rhetoric from Jadon MacCormack directly reflects the positions espoused by the top - the defacto head of his party in Washington and the architects of his agenda, and unfortunately have been displayed right here in our community.

We won’t stay quiet in the face of homophobia and antisemitism. LGBTQ+ Connecticut residents and all communities targeted by hate deserve better.

Because in Connecticut, we believe in equality. In Connecticut, we believe that love is love. And in Connecticut, we believe that hate has absolutely no home here. 🏳️‍🌈
