This page is to document and show the changes to CNC Rowe Woods over the last 20+ years. Documenting the changes caused by nature and the commercialization of the once pristine nature preserve that was once Rowe Woods. . This page purpose is to show the changes both by Emerald Ash Borer and by the commercialization by the leadership of The Cincinnati Nature Center. They have turned a once true nat

ure preserve learning center, to a Disneyesque type nature place. All you have to do is read the original mission statement. It has changed and not in a good way. That is what many of the old members have expressed. Some do like the changes. Time marches on, I will miss the old Rowe Woods. This site is to see the new and recall the old view of Rowe Woods.

The thing I notice the most about Rowe Woods now and how it looked in when I first moved next to the woodlands. Back then the Ash trees were dominating in several areas of the forest. So much so as you can see here, there was very little under growth as compared to Rowe Woods today. This is the White Tailed Deer trail 2007 looking north toward the Avey Run overlook shelter. It looks much different today.

Things I kind of see in the early dawns light in Rowe Woods. A buck, doe, and fawn in the area just off of the trail. There is one doe I often see that I also see in my yard. She has a hole in her one ear. Picture was made early one morning before the rains started.

Avey Run Overlook early morning August 9th, 2026 with water still running off from heavy rain the prior day. Sunday is one of the few mornings the gravel pit machinery is not making noise to hear the water flow. Rowe Woods, Cincinnati Nature Center

This is Cedar crossing in Rowe Woods where the two main loops of the White Tailed Deer Trail come together. Doc Lennet Bridge which was AI simulated, takes you to the water fall overlook and the deeper loop of the trail where in connects with Red Wing Trail. The Cedar tree in the middle of the two paths has been growing here for over 35 years.
