This page is to document and show the changes to CNC Rowe Woods over the last 20+ years. Documenting the changes caused by nature and the commercialization of the once pristine nature preserve that was once Rowe Woods. . This page purpose is to show the changes both by Emerald Ash Borer and by the commercialization by the leadership of The Cincinnati Nature Center. They have turned a once true nat

ure preserve learning center, to a Disneyesque type nature place. All you have to do is read the original mission statement. It has changed and not in a good way. That is what many of the old members have expressed. Some do like the changes. Time marches on, I will miss the old Rowe Woods. This site is to see the new and recall the old view of Rowe Woods.

Early morning light has a calming effect on the human body. Each morning I try to get out for a walk with Bean on the trails of Rowe Woods. The deer don't run when I pass, and the turkeys gobbled loud for me this morning.

Some time ago I noticed the wood was a little weak, and so did Troy who keeps the trails in Rowe Woods looking good. In this case while clearing wood from the trail, he added requiring support to the waterfall overlook bench.
Avey run was roaring this morning with all the rain we got last night. The rains last night left some trail areas in need of repair.

One morning in March 2008 you can see Powel Crosley Lake east shelter house, and the walkway that once extended into the lake. The forest is still full of old Ash trees.

When hiking mornings in Rowe Woods the thing I notice what has happened over time damage wise from the Emerald Ash Borer killing off all the large Ash trees that dominated the tree canopy in many areas of the woodlands. This picture was made in March 2006 on a foggy morning hike. What I notice most in the picture is the lack of dead trees laying all over the forest floor. This is along Deer Trail as it parallels Tealtown Road.
