We couldn’t let pass by without a little celebration! 🎉

Because of YOUR generosity, principals all over our area each received $1,000 last week to spend toward the wellbeing of students and faculty!

If you’re a Coastal Electric member who participates in Operation Round Up, your small change makes a BIG difference in our community. When you allow us to round up your electric bill to the next whole dollar, those nickels and dimes are pooled together and donated to the Coastal Electric Cooperative Foundation to meet the food, health, safety, education and shelter needs of local people.

So whether it’s a warm jacket for a student or a much-needed boost for a hardworking teacher, you helped make it happen! 💙

Last week, the Coastal Electric Cooperative Foundation brought big smiles to classrooms across Bryan, Liberty, and McIntosh counties, awarding over $50,000 in Bright Ideas Education Grants to local teachers – the most Bright Ideas grants ever awarded by the Foundation in a single year! 💡

Thanks to co-op members who allow their electric bills to be rounded up to the next whole dollar as part of Operation Round Up, these grants turn innovative classroom project ideas into reality.

Grant awards will fund projects benefitting students from early elementary through high school in various areas of learning – core subjects, the arts and even career readiness.

Since 2002, the Coastal Electric Cooperative Foundation has awarded around half a million dollars through the Bright Ideas program, empowering educators to bring creativity to life in their classrooms. 💚

Fall is the perfect time to check for drafts around windows and doors, before cooler weather arrives. A little weatherstripping and caulk can help keep conditioned air indoors while improving efficiency and overall comfort. 🍂

Coastal Electric director John Woods III captured this amazing camera phone picture this morning, just after 6:33 am, from his home on Colonels Island in Liberty County. The SpaceX mission used a Falcon 9 rocket to propel a Cargo Dragon capsule into orbit. The Dragon capsule is carrying approximately 6,300 pounds of supplies, critical hardware, and science experiments bound for the International Space Station. Because the pre-dawn liftoff occurred just before sunrise, high-altitude sunlight illuminated the expanding rocket exhaust, creating a stunning, glowing space jellyfish effect visible to skywatchers across Florida and the Southeast.
