We're always so grateful when a program we're putting on is helped by funds from the Methuen Cultural Council or Mass Cultural Council. If you have something that falls into these categories and that you can use funds for, make sure that you apply by October 15!!

Isn’t it fun to talk about a book you just read with others? The Nevins Library hosts several different Book Groups to do just that. We have several different themed groups for adults. It’s a great way to get together with friends to talk about books and current topics. Whether you've participated in our Book Groups before, or not, there is always room for new members. Come to a meeting and see if you like it!

In September we have some groups doing a Reading RoundUp while others are reading or watching an item. What is a Reading RoundUp? You bring the titles of all the books you recommend (or don't) to the meeting, and go away with a list of more books to read. (Mwahahaha....)

Did you know that the number nine is mathematically magic? First multiply a number by nine. The add together the numbers in the answer it always makes nine. Try it out: 2 x 9 = 18 then 1 + 8 = 9. 5x9=45 and 4+5=9.

There's also another magic trick I can do with the magic number nine. I can tell you right now which generation you're in (or what generation of child you had) if you now have a certain song stuck in your head. You're welcome! 😉

A quick save the dates. We're just over a month away from the Friends' Fall Book Sale!!

The Preview night being on Friday, September 25 from 5pm-8pm (Free to get in if you're a Friends of the Library member, and $20 if you're not).

Then the sale opens to everyone at 9am on Saturday, September 26. It's open (and just the sale in the Hall, not the library) from Noon until 4pm on Sunday, September 27. And then on Monday, September 28 is Bargain Day. Buy a bag for $10 and fill it!!

Everyone these days knows the 1945 Food and Nutrition Board recommendation. It said that people need about 2.5 liters of water a day (which, ah... is actually more like 10 glasses, not 8... shhh... 😉)

But, did you know that there was another sentence after it, "Most of this quantity is contained in prepared foods." Think of cucumbers (yummm), or tomatoes, or celery and such. So, drinking water is definitely important, but, don't forget to eat some water every day too!!
