Wilkinson County Middle School is a part of the Wilkinson County School District in Irwinton, GA. WCMS offers students the opportunity to enjoy the challenge of a rigorous academic program, enhanced by technology instruction, that will prepare them for high school advanced studies and beyond. A unique component of WCMS is that both its instruction and student performance elements are infused with technology. Students will move at an advanced pace through a technology-rich academic curriculum. At the core of the program is the goal of transforming students from basic computer users into leaders ready to succeed in a 21st century environment.

Red Ribbon Week is observed annually in schools across the nation, teaching students about the harmful effects of drugs and drug use and encouraging them to be drug-free.

On day 4, our students and teachers pledged to not be confused by drugs by dressing babies, teachers, and teenagers but in reverse order! We've had great fun with this spirit week, making memories and spreading awareness. Stay tuned for the conclusion of the week!

On day 3, our students wore hats to put a lid on drugs and the use of drugs, also we wore red as a tradition to honor the week long observance. Stay tuned for more from our daily celebration!

🎉 Congratulations to our 12 scholars who were nominated and invited to attend the 36th Annual UGA MidFest in December! 🎶

Our students will travel to Athens to join middle school musicians from across Georgia for an incredible learning experience. Students will study with clinicians, growing their musical talent, and connecting with other passionate young musicians. MidFest, established in 1990, is a three-day festival that brings together nearly 1,000 students from over 130 schools, culminating in a powerful final performance.

Exploring Genetics in 7th Grade Life Science!
Our young scientists have been busy exploring the fascinating world of genetics and DNA!

Students engaged in meaningful learning activities that included:
🧬 Double Bubble Map: Comparing and contrasting James Watson and Francis Crick and their contributions to the development of the DNA double-helix model.

📚 Genetics Vocabulary: Building scientific knowledge by identifying key vocabulary terms and writing their definitions.
✍️ Informational Writing: Explaining the structure, function, and importance of the DNA model and how DNA carries genetic information.

These activities helped students strengthen their critical thinking, reading comprehension, scientific vocabulary, and writing skills while making connections to real-world science.

We are not just learning science; we are thinking, writing, and communicating like scientists! 🧬💚

We're gearing up for our annual Red Ribbon Week recognition, beginning Monday, October 26th!

Red Ribbon Week is an annual alcohol, to***co, drug, and violence prevention campaign held every October in the United States. Its purpose is to educate the public about the dangers of drug use and to encourage a drug-free lifestyle, particularly among young people.
Here are the details for our spirit week. Our school counselors are also sharing information in their buildings and other ways to celebrate, including poster and essay contests, assemblies, and more!

Today is , a national observance focused on bullying prevention, kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Thank you, students and staff, for wearing orange to represent unity and a shared commitment to preventing bullying!

Today was also ! Students and staff received a small token from the admin team, just for being here! Our students are the best part of our patch! Thanks for being sweet (and not sour) about being here with us today! 💙 💛
