Oconee Area Citizen Advocacy Protection and advocacy for people with developmental disabilities through personal relationships.

A well-connected citizen, who is unpaid and independent of human services, creates a relationship with a person who has a developmental disability and has been neglected, abused, or treated with indifference. The citizen advocate represents and responds to that person's interests as if they were the advocate's own, thus bringing the person's gifts and concerns into ordinary circles of community life.
