Dear MSC Members,

First and foremost we have an important update to share regarding today's activities:

Bruce John is unfortunately unexpectedly unable to join us for a performance today. All other activities including the cafe and free Kona Ice Truck will still occur. We hope you will still join us as we kick off summer - rain or shine! Cafe starts at 12 noon.

Today's 2 p.m. book club invites everyone - there was no "assigned" reading, we're coming together to share ideas for upcoming reads and need to know what you would love to discuss. Please join us!

And now...the July Sparks is officially OUT!

This month is one of remembrance and celebration. Follow this link to view the digital edition: https://www.mansfieldct.gov/DocumentCenter/View/34990/July-Sparks-2026-

We’ll kick off the month by coming together to honor and celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a patriotic party, featuring our very own Folk Group! Start the morning with some lightly-competitive fun, and opportunities to share your families’ “American” story and heritage.

Love a little history? CT Museum of Culture & History is joining us for two special after-hours presentations: “Tories, Spies, and Traitors” and “Tapping Into the Past: Tavern Life in Early CT”. These free events are “can’t miss!”.

Want to get outside? Join us for a relaxing day at Harkness Park, experience some adventure as we head out Troll Hunting, get on the water at the Slip Away Boat Tour, pick your fill of blueberries at Buells, or seek out some nostalgia at the second annual Senior Summer Camp! Don’t forget sunglasses and sunscreen- it’s UV Awareness Month!

Read the newsletter to find out what else is in store!

Important news and reminders:

After careful consideration, the Mansfield Senior Center lunch program will be $6.00 per meal as of July 1, 2026. While not an easy decision, continued increase in cost of food requires this modification. This will help us to offer quality meals at the most affordable price possible. We have worked hard keeping the cost down since the program’s inception.

Sincerely,

MSC Staff

Thank you to Adam Libros for a great Emergency Preparedness discussion today!

💙🌎 Today Starts International Men’s Health Week 💙🌎

Throughout the week, we’ll highlight important men’s health topics to help inform, educate, and raise awareness around issues impacting men, boys, and their families.

🤝 Today, we’re focusing on connection, conversation, and emotional well-being.

💙 Men & Mental Health 💙
Stronger connections. Better conversations. Healthier outcomes.

Too many men are taught to stay silent, push through stress alone, or avoid asking for support. There is still significant stigma surrounding conversations about mental health.

But connection, conversation, and shared care can make a life-changing difference.

When families, friends, partners, coworkers, and communities come together, men are more likely to open up, seek support, and engage in their health and well-being.

🤝 A simple conversation can remind someone they are seen, valued, and not alone.
