Update for Saturday, September 5th, 3:00 pm. The Sanctuary power has been restored and the road cleared. We are open until 5:00 pm today.

Update: The Sanctuary Visitor Center is once again open. The power has been restored and the road is clear. We are open until 5:00 pm today and reopen tomorrow at 9:00 am.

Sanctuary Visitor Center location (1361 Wrighton Road) is closed Friday Sept 4th until further notice. Last night's storms brought down trees on the power lines which are blocking the driveway. We will repost when the driveway and Sanctuary has reopened. Glendening Preserve and other Jug Bay paks remain open.

Attention all coffee, tea, and bird lovers!

Jug Bay is introducing a new program in partnership with Chesapeake Coffee Roasters called Birds & Brew, kicking off in September. Every other Wednesday morning from 9:30am to 10:30am, join a Naturalist or Park Ranger on our newly renovated Observation Deck to spot birds, sip coffee, and enjoy a peaceful start to your day.

Starting Wednesday, September 16, this program is FREE ($8 county park vehicle entrance fee required) and includes hot, fresh, bird-friendly coffee or black tea packets, cream, sugar, and mugs. Bring your binoculars or borrow a pair of ours.

Space is limited to 20 participants, 12 years and older.
Registration is required at jugbay.org.

It's that time of year again! With the warm(ish) rainy nights of fall, we begin to observe the migration of salamanders and other amphibians across roadways at night. We are seeking volunteers to serve as "salamander shepherds" to help ensure their safe crossing along the streets that border Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary.

Here's a great event to get outdoors, learn more about nature, and help science all at the same time!

The The City of Annapolis is hosting a "Parks for Pollinators" bioblitz for the month of September, in which community members are encouraged to discover their local pollinators.

How it works:
Community members identify hummingbirds, bees, flies, and all sorts of taxa within the City using their phone via the iNaturalist app. The member who observes the most pollinators at public parks will win a prize!
