SENTENCING ANNOUNCEMENT
William Monroe has been sentenced to 60 years in prison, suspending all but 12 years, after pleading guilty to three counts of armed robbery for robbing two banks in Clinton on three separate occasions in November and December 2024, using demand notes threatening that he had a gun.
In November 2024, Monroe entered the Truist Bank in Clinton and approached a bank employee, passing her a note demanding $25,000 and stating that he had a gun.
Fearing tor her lite and the satety of others, the employee complied and provided Monroe with approximately $1,060 in bank funds. In December 2024, Monroe robbed the TD Bank and Truist Bank in Clinton in the same manner. During the TD Bank robbery, Monroe stole approximately $585 in bank funds, and he stole approximately $1,000 during the second robbery of the Truist Bank. Detectives obtained surveillance footage from the robberies, and latent fingerprints recovered from the demand notes were later identified as belonging to Monroe.

SENTENCING ANNOUNCEMENT
Robert Warrington has been sentenced to 30 years in prison, suspending all but 18 months, to be served on home detention, as well as 5 years of supervised probation, with additional home detention to be served during the first 18 months.

On May 21, 2026, following a two-day bench trial, a Prince George’s County Circuit Court judge found Warrington guilty of attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and misconduct in office related to a shooting along Collington Road in Bowie in September 2024.

After hearing arguments from the prosecutor and defense attorney, the same judge who convicted Warrington imposed the sentence. Prosecutors sought a sentence of 5 years in prison.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the extraordinary courage of the first responders, public servants, and everyday Americans who answered the call to serve.

In the days that followed, we saw communities come together in an unprecedented way and people united in the face of unimaginable tragedy and injustice. That spirit of unity is something we continue to need from our communities today.

Here at the Office of the State’s Attorney, we are reminded that public service is both a privilege and a responsibility. We remain committed to serving our community with integrity, compassion, and purpose, and to working together to build a community where everyone feels safe, supported, and heard.

We remember the lives lost. We honor the heroes. We stand together against injustice. We will never forget.

SENTENCING ANNOUNCEMENT
Warren Leonard has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, suspending all but 8 years, followed by 5 years of supervised probation, for fleeing and eluding police resulting in the death of 33-year-old Esmerelda Carolina Montoya Perez.

On February 28, 2025, Leonard fled a traffic stop in Hyattsville atter initially coming to a stop. Leonard, who did not have a valid driver’s license, drove at speeds of up to 90 mph and used the shoulder to pass slower traffic.

Leonard struck and killed Montoya Perez, who was waiting for a bus. Montoya Perez was survived by her husband and two daughters.

SENTENCING ANNOUNCEMENT
Tramell Holmes has been sentenced to 40 years in prison, suspending all but 30 years, followed by five years of supervised probation, after being convicted of second-degree murder.

In September 2025, Holmes, who was 16 years old at the time, beat 58-year-old Coleman James Williams to death and set his body on fire in a wooded area in Bowie. An autopsy revealed Williams suffered multiple broken bones, a fractured hyoid bone consistent with strangulation, and a brain bleed. The medical examiner determined he was set on fire after his death.
