🎃 Halloween is a fun night for families across our community, and a few simple precautions can help keep it safe for everyone.

We’re sharing these helpful reminders from Caldwell County as families head out for trick-or-treating. Please slow down in neighborhoods, watch carefully for children, stay visible, and choose safe routes.

One more reminder from your local first responders: please keep roadways, driveways, and access points clear whenever possible so emergency vehicles can get through quickly if needed.

From all of us at Yadkin Valley Fire-Rescue, have a fun, safe, and happy Halloween! 🚒👻

As you enjoy the spooky season, let’s work together to keep our county and children safe while making sweet memories. Stay Safe This Halloween:

⚠ Be visible: Carry a flashlight and wear reflective clothing.
⚠ Cross streets safely: Use crosswalks, look both ways, and make eye contact with drivers before crossing.
⚠ Drive with extra caution: Slow down in residential neighborhoods and watch for children and trick-or-treaters.
⚠ Check treats: Parents and caregivers should inspect candy before children enjoy it.
⚠ Stay together: Young children should always be accompanied by a trusted adult.
⚠ Choose safe routes: Stick to familiar, well-lit neighborhoods and sidewalks whenever possible.
⚠ Keep pets safe: Secure pets indoors or in a quiet, comfortable space away from the Halloween excitement.

A little extra care goes a long way toward making Halloween fun and safe for everyone. From all of us at Caldwell County Government, have a happy, healthy, and safe Halloween! 🎃

Today, on National First Responders Day, we pause to recognize the firefighters, EMS personnel, law enforcement officers, dispatchers, and other emergency responders who serve our communities every day.

We’re especially grateful for the men and women who answer the call here in Caldwell County and for the strong relationships we share with our neighboring departments and agencies.

Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your commitment to helping others when they need it most. ❤️🚒🚑🚓

📚🚒 We’re looking forward to joining Happy Valley School for Title I Reading Night.

This school event is focused on helping students build a love of reading, giving parents opportunities to connect with the school, and sharing resources that support learning at home.

Yadkin Valley Fire-Rescue will be there as part of the evening’s Halloween Trunk or Treat, and the Caldwell County Public Library will be available to help Happy Valley families learn more about library resources and library cards.

We’re glad to support an evening centered on Happy Valley students and their families. 📖🎃❤️

❤️ Our Community Needs Your Help ❤️

This past Saturday, a local family experienced a devastating house fire that resulted in the loss of their home and belongings. We are incredibly thankful that everyone made it out safely, but this family now faces the difficult task of starting over.

A GoFundMe has been established to help this family with clothing, everyday necessities, and finding a new place to call home.

If you're able to contribute, no amount is too small. If you're unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping the family in your thoughts and prayers.

Let's come together and help one of our own. ❤️🚒

We’re grateful for the local businesses and neighbors who continually find ways to support our community and its first responders.

A special thank you to our friends at Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries - Lenoir, NC, for their kindness and encouragement this week. We appreciate the many ways they show up for schools, nonprofits, first responders, and families throughout our area.

Strong communities are built through relationships like these, and we’re thankful to have such wonderful community partners here in Yadkin Valley. ❤️🚒

🛴🔋 For tools and rides, charge outside when possible.
Larger lithium-ion batteries — like those in e-bikes, scooters and power tools — store more energy and can create a fast-growing fire if they fail.

When possible, charge them outside, keep them away from exits, and never block an escape route while charging.

Fire Prevention Week may be wrapping up, but these are good habits to keep all year long.

🚨 Feels hot? Stop using it.

Stop using a device right away if the battery feels unusually warm, smells strange, makes popping noises, changes shape or color, or starts smoking.

If it is safe to do so, move the device away from anything that can catch fire. A damaged battery can overheat and start a fire.
