The Linn County Fire Defense Board has lifted the countywide burn ban for recreational and agricultural burning.

However, debris burning, including burn barrels and debris piles, remains prohibited throughout Linn County.

If you live within the Oregon Department of Forestry Fire Protection area, please check with ODF South Cascade District – Sweet Home Unit for current fire restrictions.

Even with the burn ban lifted for recreational and agricultural burning, please remain vigilant when burning. Conditions can change quickly. Keep water nearby, never leave a fire unattended, and make sure your fire is completely out before leaving the area.

Please help us prevent wildfires and keep our community safe.

Effective immediately, the Linn County Fire Defense Board is lifting the County wide burn ban in regard to recreation and agricultural burning.

It was great spending time with the Colonia Paz community for National Night Out!

Lebanon Fire District was invited by the community to join the event and provide health, wellness, and public safety information. Crews also had some fun cooling off the kids with a little water spray.

Lebanon Fire District is receiving reports and calls regarding the heavy, hazy smoke currently affecting our area.

At this time, there are no active fires in the Lebanon Fire District area. The smoke is drifting into our area from fires burning outside the District.

We understand the haze can be concerning, especially when visibility is reduced. If you see flames, a defined column of smoke, or someone actively burning, please continue to report it so crews can investigate.

As a reminder, burning is not currently allowed.

We are experiencing a heavy amount of drift smoke in the area from out of District fires. It is very hazy and we are getting multiple calls.

We have resources out in the field checking reports and all reports point to drift smoke so far.

If you see flames/ a defined column of smoke or observe someone burning, please continue to report these activities. General rule: Burning is still not allowed.

Lebanon Fire District firefighters were dispatched to a large natural cover fire in Lacomb on Friday, Aug. 20. The fire, located in the 41000 block of Baptist Church Drive, was reported by neighbors at approximately 11:46 a.m.

When the Battalion Chief arrived, the fire had been contained to approximately one-half acre and extinguished by the property owner and neighbors. Additional firefighters arrived and worked to mop up hot spots throughout the burned area, making sure the fire was completely extinguished. Crews remained on scene for approximately one hour.

The fire was most likely caused by a spark striking a rock while equipment was swathing the field. No injuries were reported, and no equipment was damaged.

Reminder: Linn County remains under a countywide burn ban.

The burn ban includes backyard piles, barrel burning, charcoal fires, and recreational fires. These restrictions will remain in effect until the Linn County Fire Defense Board and Oregon Department of Forestry lift them, which may not happen until significant rainfall occurs.

Please continue to use caution and help prevent wildfires. Stay safe!

Linn County Public Health is advising that smoky air conditions are expected to increase over the next day in the east Linn County area due to changing wind patterns. Conditions are expected to improve later Tuesday, Aug. 25.

What you can do to protect yourself:
• Limit your exposure to wildfire smoke.
• Keep windows and doors closed unless it is extremely hot outside.
• If using an air conditioner, keep the fresh-air intake closed and make sure the filter is clean.
• Consider using a HEPA filter or electrostatic precipitator (ESP) to help keep indoor air clean.
• If you do not have air conditioning and it is too warm to stay inside with the windows closed, seek shelter elsewhere.
• Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.

Air quality is monitored at specific sites. Visit oregonsmoke.org for current information. Conditions may range from moderate to unhealthy for sensitive groups. At the unhealthy-for-sensitive-groups level, most people are not affected, but children, older adults, and people with lung disease are at higher risk from exposure.

Well… we got a little ahead of ourselves. 😅

We lifted the burn ban in Linn County yesterday—and, turns out, we got that one wrong.

So, yep… the burn ban is back in place. 🔥🚫

Owning it is the easy part. Keeping everyone safe is the important part. Thanks for your patience and understanding while we correct course.

Please hold off on all burning until the ban is lifted again.
