Wexford Montessori is a true rarity in the Lansing area. It provides authentic Montessori education from experienced staff without charging tuition.

Montessori classrooms are multi-age within a three-year range. Just as all children develop physically at different rates, they also develop cognitively and emotionally at different rates. By mixing the age groups within the three-year range, the children are able to learn at their own pace and challenge themselves. Additionally, the mixed age fosters self-directed learning, independence and a strong sense of community. Children are encouraged to help one another thereby reinforcing their own knowledge and skills. The school is divided into four age groups:
• The Children’s House for students aged 4 to 6 (pre-K and Kindergarten)
• Elementary 1 for students aged 6 to 9 (First through Third grade)
• Elementary 2 for students aged 9 to 12 (Fourth through Sixth grade)
• Middle School for students aged 13 to 14 (Seventh and Eighth grade)

Wexford Montessori Academy will utilize the Montessori methods while ensuring mastery of all State of Michigan learning outcomes by our students. Wexford students will be inspired learners who reach their full potential academically, creatively, emotionally and physically. • Bring your paper, boxboard (cereal/cracker boxes), junk mail, magazines, or cardboard (cut into 12”x12” or smaller for their machine) to school.
• PTA earns funds based on weight
• Each classroom has a Paper Gator Bin or there is a Paper Gator Dumpster outside near the pickup line.

🌎☀️ Monday Montessori Moment! 🪐🎨

Learning is out of this world in Ms. Karen’s class! 🚀

To kick off their exploration of the solar system, students used paint to explore the concept of “orbit!” 🎨

Through hands-on discovery, students began exploring how planets move around the sun, bringing science, art, and curiosity together!

Our Wexford Wolves cheerleaders had their FIRST practice, and we couldn’t be more excited! 🎉

They’re already learning to work together, encourage one another, and become a TEAM!

We can’t wait to hear them cheering on our Wolves at the first game! The energy, excitement, and Wolf pride are already growing!

🐺💙 Wolf Thanks, Pancakes, and a Whole Lot of Community!

At Wexford Montessori, our Wolf Thanks program recognizes students for the positive choices and contributions they make to our school community! These recognition tickets celebrate the child while helping nurture intrinsic motivation, responsibility, and a sense of belonging. -- have you seen a Wolf Thanks come home?!

Ms. Meg’s E2 classroom recently reached a goal they had chosen together as a class—the chance to make pancakes together!

What a wonderful way to celebrate teamwork, shared responsibility, and community! And I must say, I wish I had made it there sooner because those pancakes smelled DELICIOUS! 😋

🏆Wexford Montessori is THINKING PINK… and WINNING! 🏆

On October 16th, staff across the Lansing School District competed to see which school could show the most PINK in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

💗 The results are in… and WEXFORD MONTESSORI WON! 💗

Our amazing staff showed up, showed out, and turned Wexford into a sea of pink!

We love a little friendly competition when it brings us together for such an important cause!

We love when our community comes together and Fall Fling with PTA was a great example!

Families enjoyed a delicious nacho bar meal, creative crafts and activities, captured photo memories showing how many pumpkins tall they are, and even a cheer to celebrate the night!

In a Montessori classroom, student voice and choice don’t mean learning without direction. Student work plans are a vital part of helping students develop independence, manage their time, set goals, and take ownership of their learning.

At Wexford, work plans help us honor the Montessori Method while also ensuring every student has access to a Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum—the essential learning every student needs, with the time and opportunity to master it.

Students may have choice in how, when, and where they complete their work, while teachers intentionally guide what students need to learn and master.
