C**t Early Childhood Education Center is getting ready to welcome preschool families at their open house this Wednesday, September 2nd, from 10am-12pm and 5pm-7pm.
We can't wait to see our youngest Warriors enjoying the new playground and project spaces, soon!

Transportation Update! 📣🚌

All bus route information has been sent to Waverly families through email. If you have not received your student's transportation information, please contact the Transportation Department at 517-321-1088 for assistance.

Teachers and staff from across the district came together this morning to prepare for the new school year at Waverly Community Schools' opening day.
Staff received pins in recognition for their years of service —including teacher Brenda Hinds who has completed 35 years at Waverly!
With all these incredible educators committed to serving our students, families, and community, we know it's going to be a great year for all our Warriors.
We can't wait to see students back on Monday, August 24th (for all schools except C**t Early Childhood Education Center, which starts after Labor Day)!

New Waverly teachers, along with Superintendent Glenn Mitcham, hopped on a school bus for a tour of the district earlier this week. At the wheel was Mr. Sam, who has been driving for 18 years! 🚌

We can't wait to welcome Waverly families to our school Open Houses! Make sure to add the following dates to your schedule.

Waverly High School: August 19th, 5-7pm
Waverly Middle School: August 19th, 6-8pm. Please note that programming for 7th Grade is at 6pm, and 8th Grade is at 7pm.
East Intermediate: August 19th , 4-6pm
Elmwood: August 20th, 5-6:30pm
Winans: August 20th, 5-6:30pm
C**t: September 2nd, time TBD

This is your chance to meet teachers, tour classrooms, and get involved in your school — we hope to see you there!

The Transportation Department will send out bus route information the week of August 10th, via email. If you haven't received an email with your student's bus information by August 14th, please contact the Transportation Department by phone at 517-321-1088.

Waverly Community Schools is proud to recognize two outstanding Waverly student-athletes for their remarkable achievements both in the classroom and in competition.

🏆 Marisela Guevara, Senior
Marisela was honored as Waverly's recipient of the CAAC Senior Scholar Athlete Award. This prestigious recognition celebrates senior student-athletes who excel academically while lettering in multiple sports. The annual award program is sponsored by University of Michigan Health-Sparrow and recognizes the top academic achievers from each CAAC member school.

🏅 Alannah Love, Sophomore
Congratulations to Alannah on an incredible season, highlighted by becoming the MHSAA Division 1 State Champion in the High Jump with a leap of 5'8"!

Her accomplishments include:
• MHSAA Division 1 State Champion
• Regional Champion
• CAAC Blue Champion
• Undefeated in the high jump during the 2026 season
• Academic All-Conference honoree
• Tied for the #1 high jumper in Michigan
• Waverly's first girls individual state champion since 2018
• Three-sport athlete competing in Volleyball, Basketball, and Track & Field

The Waverly Community Schools Board of Education is seeking candidates to fill a vacancy on the Board resulting from the resignation of Alicia Guevara, effective June 30, 2026.

The Board invites interested residents of Waverly Community Schools to submit a letter of interest to Glenn Mitcham, Superintendent, at 515 Snow Rd., Lansing, MI 48917, or by email to [email protected].

Letters of interest should include relevant background information and experience for the Board's consideration and must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. on July 6, 2026. Selected applicants will be interviewed during the Board of Education meeting on July 15, 2026.

The appointment to this position will begin no later than August 17, 2026, and will expire on December 31, 2026.
