Center Star Fire District is proud to recognize and express our sincere appreciation for the $5,000 grant awarded to our department for new rope rescue equipment!

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Senator Tim Melson and Representative Ben Harrison for awarding our department this grant and investing in the safety and capabilities of our firefighters. We would also like to thank Ron Sigismonti with The Fire Store for his assistance with purchasing the equipment and helping us obtain the resources needed to better serve our community.

This funding has allowed us to obtain critical rope rescue equipment, including helmets, harnesses, ropes, pulleys, carabiners, and other essential rescue components. This investment helps replace outdated and non-compliant equipment while addressing gaps in our current capabilities.

Our new equipment will strengthen our ability to safely conduct technical rescue operations in challenging environments, including steep embankments, areas along Wheeler Lake, and heavily wooded terrain that is difficult to access with traditional emergency response vehicles.

Most importantly, this grant is an investment in firefighter safety and our ability to serve our community. Having the proper equipment is essential when our personnel are called upon to reach and assist individuals in difficult and potentially hazardous locations.

We are incredibly grateful for the support that makes these improvements possible. Funding opportunities like this allow smaller departments like ours to improve our capabilities, equip our firefighters, and provide a higher level of service to the citizens we proudly protect.

The Lauderdale County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments (LCAVFD) and Florence Fire Rescue are teaming up to kick off Fire Prevention Week 2026: “Charge Into Fire Safety™ — Safe Charging Is a Superpower!”

Bring the whole family and stop by for fire safety handouts, games, activities, and our Fire Safety Smoke House for the kids! Come meet your local firefighters and learn some important fire-safety tips while having a little fun!

🇺🇸 NEVER FORGET — 25 YEARS 🇺🇸
Today, Center Star Fire District pauses to remember September 11, 2001 — a day that changed our nation forever.
We remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost, the 343 firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice, and every police officer, EMT, paramedic, military member, and civilian who answered the call that day.
Twenty-five years later, their courage still reminds us why we serve — with duty, courage, honor, and commitment.
We will never forget the lives lost.
We will never forget the heroes who responded.
We will never forget the families who were left behind.
