As October comes to a close, here are a few tips from our partners at the Warrior Wellness Center! 🩷
Breast Cancer Prevention and Early Detection
Discuss risk factors with your healthcare provider:
-Family history
-Obesity
-Alcohol consumption
-Gender (females)
-Ethnicity/Race (African Americans/Latinos)
-Young age at menarche
-Older age at first live birth
-Older age at menopause
-Prior hormonal therapy

Screening should occur once every calendar year: Mammograms can detect breast cancer early before symptoms appear. Report any changes to your provider immediately.
Signs:
-New lump or thickening of the breast tissue
-Changes in breast size or shape
-Dimpling of the skin or changes in texture or color
-Redness or swelling

Our team over at Wilkinson County School Nutrition definitely knocked it out of the park while celebrating School Lunch Week! Menu items included beef and cheese nachos, turkey and pretzel dogs, and even funnel cakes-all of which the students agreed were a "10/10".

We're gearing up for our annual Red Ribbon Week recognition, beginning Monday, October 26th!

Red Ribbon Week is an annual alcohol, to***co, drug, and violence prevention campaign held every October in the United States. Its purpose is to educate the public about the dangers of drug use and to encourage a drug-free lifestyle, particularly among young people.
Here are the details for our spirit week. Our school counselors are also sharing information in their buildings and other ways to celebrate, including poster and essay contests, assemblies, and more!

This week, we recognize National School Bus Safety Week and America's Safe Schools Week! While these observances focus on different areas, they share one important goal: keeping our students and staff safe!

🚌 School Bus Safety Week reminds us that safety begins long before students enter the classroom. From waiting at the bus stop and boarding safely to following bus rules and encouraging motorists to remain alert, everyone plays a role in making sure our students arrive at school and return home safely.

🏫 Safe Schools Week highlights the importance of maintaining secure, supportive, and welcoming learning environments. When students feel safe physically, socially, and emotionally, they're better able to focus, build positive relationships, and succeed academically.

At Wilkinson County Schools, safe students and safe schools are everyone's responsibility! 💙 💛
