We're sending a shout-out to Mr. Jones, Staff Member of the Month, nominated by his peers for August!
Thank you for ALL you do, Mr. Jones! 💪

Also, Mrs. Johnson acknowledged students who had perfect attendance for August! All students received complimentary PBIS points that they can use in our PBIS store! September is Attendance Awareness Month, and the celebration will continue in the upcoming weeks. Can you tell we love Fridays? 💙💛

Ms. S. Cooper’s 3rd Grade ELA students are learning about poetry and figurative language. During this engaging group activity, students worked together to read and sort examples of similes and metaphors. They discussed each example, identified the type of figurative language used, and collaborated to place each sentence in the correct category.

This activity encouraged teamwork, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of how poets use figurative language to make their writing more creative and meaningful!📝

Wilkinson County Schools would like to inform families that staff and students at our Elementary/Middle School campus briefly evacuated the building in response to a fire alarm.

After the campus was assessed, no fire, smoke, or other hazards were identified. All students and staff have safely reentered the building, and normal operations have resumed.

We appreciate our students and staff for responding appropriately and following established safety procedures.

Our students in **Ms. Amerson’s Science class** have been exploring the fascinating world of rocks! They studied the **attributes and characteristics of different rocks** and then used their observations to **classify the rocks based on their properties**.

We spent a moment on Friday afternoon reintroducing our Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) to our students and staff during our PBIS Kickoff. 🚀

Our three pillars: Be Safe, Be Responsible, and Be Respectful remain. With an interactive question-and-answer session, right-and-wrong demonstrations, and more, our students understand the expectations and can easily model positive behavior. Special thanks to Mrs. Starley and her dynamic PBIS committee for their hard work in making this assembly a success!
