Tuesday night, the Chariho School Committee voted on funding a dedicated website to give the public clear, accurate information on the Unified Elementary School project and Capital Improvement Plan, using a portion of marketing funds already set aside.

Eight committee members voted to give Hopkinton families the facts. Four Hopkinton reps chose not to. Hopkinton's representatives fought against providing easily accessible and truthful information to our residents.

Polly Hopkins: "I don't think we need it."
Dianne Tefft: "I look at it as being redundant." Hopkins, Lowe, and Phelps voted no. Tefft abstained.

November is coming. Justin Bentley and Gregg Avedisian will be the representation Hopkinton deserves: leaders who choose facts and transparency over confusion.

Seeds of Change is not a stuffy fundraiser. It is an evening in a neighbor's garden, with good food, good company, and a chance to talk with our candidates one on one instead of from across a podium. Bring a lawn chair if you have one. Bring a friend who has never been to a political event in their life. This is what building something in Hopkinton actually looks like, one conversation at a time. Meet Kevin Lambert, candidate for Hopkinton Town Council. Kevin has called Hopkinton home for 29 years. He's a software engineer, an Eagle Scout, and an animal rescue volunteer who believes town government should work in the open, not behind closed doors. His platform is simple: transparency by design. That means public records residents can actually find, meetings residents can actually follow, and a council that explains its decisions instead of hiding them. Kevin is running to move Hopkinton forward.

Meet Gregg Avedisian, candidate for Chariho School Committee. Gregg has served on the School Committee before and understands the budget, the policy, and the day to day decisions that shape a Chariho education. He is running again because he believes the district needs steady, experienced voices willing to put students first, especially as funding fights and unfunded mandates put pressure on local schools.

Clean water should not be a partisan issue, but it does take leaders willing to act on it. PFAS contamination has raised real concerns for Hopkinton families in recent years. Our candidates believe the town needs clear public reporting on water testing results and a real plan to protect residents, not just reassurance after the fact. Local leadership means facing hard problems directly.

Meet Rick Wucik, candidate for Hopkinton Town Council. Rick spent 28 years managing healthcare rehabilitation departments before becoming a licensed Realtor in Rhode Island and Connecticut, where he focuses on affordable housing and helping first-time buyers find a home. He and his wife Emily have in Ashaway since 2012, raising their son, tending a garden he shares with neighbors in need, and coaching Hopkinton Recreation youth basketball as a Cub Scout Den Leader. Rick is running because he believes town government should serve working families, not just the well connected.

Meet Justin Bentley, candidate for Chariho School Committee. Justin has spent 26 years teaching science in Westerly, next door to the district where he grew up as a student. He is a Chariho lifer, through and through, and now a Chariho parent too. Justin's campaign comes down to one idea: students over politics. He believes school board decisions should be driven by what is best for kids, not by outside agendas.
