We are so grateful for our entire village that helped to get the override passed with a 61% majority yesterday. First and foremost, our amazing Invest in Ashland team, who took time away from their families and jobs to spend countless hours dedicated to the campaign because of their commitment to Ashland Public Schools and what was right for the community as a whole.
Thank you to Superintendent Jim Adams and his admin team at APS for working hard to restructure the district in a way that impacted the students the least and also minimized the amount of the override for the taxpayers as much as possible.
Thank you to Michael Herbert and all of our staff in Town Hall for all their work on this year's budget and election cycle. Special thanks to the town's finance team- Cindy and Stephanie, our Town Clerk Cindy and Asst Town Clerk Christopher, and all the poll workers who braved the steamy temps in the gym during a very long day yesterday.
Thank you to our IIA campaign donors, lawn sign hosts, sign holding volunteers (especially our students that joined us), and those that honked their support. We also appreciate everyone that discussed the issues with us - whether at an event where we had a table, at the town's Public Forum, at Board meetings, or on social media. There were so many good questions and we appreciated the constructive conversations. And we know sometimes commenting on social media is an act of bravery, so thank you to all our supportive social media warriors.
Thank you to our amazing educators and staff at Ashland Public Schools for your support (especially the AEA) and the work that you do on behalf of our children every day. I am so proud of the high-quality education our next generation receives in Ashland and I am grateful that we can continue to preserve that. This is for you.
Most of all, THANK YOU to all of you- the voters that came out yesterday (including the brave ones during the crazy storm)! Whether you voted yes or no, you had your voice heard through your vote and it is appreciated. We know not everyone wants or is financially able to support the override. Our goal throughout the entire campaign was to provide as much factual information to all of you, so you could make the best decision for yourself- and that is what you did.
That being said, we are extremely grateful for the 61% of you that voted YES! Ashland is a community that shows up for one another and that is what we did yesterday for Ashland Public Schools. So thank you for all the support!
