🔦 We're shining a light on the meaningful impact of one of the funds held at Wayne County Community Foundation!
Thanks to the Michael J. Bryant Memorial Fund, Children's Service Center in Honesdale has created a more welcoming, supportive space for individuals receiving care. This is a stellar example of local generosity making a difference for the young members in our community. Here's what they had to say in their recent news brief:

Patients of all ages visiting our Honesdale office are in for a treat when they see the newly outfitted Sensory Friendly Space at 840 Main Street. Thanks to a $1,000 grant from The Michael J. Bryant Memorial Fund at Wayne County Community Foundation, the space is outfitted with furniture, activities, and other resources designed to reduce anxiety, support emotional expression, and encourage patients to engage in their services. The Fund supports individuals with disabilities by helping them access the goods and services they need to maximize their potential.
Early feedback has been positive on the space's calming and comfortable offerings for sensory-affected individuals. Outpatient Therapist Lindsey Block said the sensory space has made a difference from day one. "My young client was quickly engaged and able to express themselves openly while using the sensory toys and activities. They made a difference in helping the client to feel supported to discuss difficult circumstances."
Opened in 2018, the Honesdale office provides children and adults with outpatient therapy, medication management, family-based services, HOPE (first-episode psychosis, ages 15-30), and a connection to our school-based teams in the Wayne Highlands School District.
