Walking Together for Breast Cancer Awareness

On Friday the 23rd, Banner Lake Club came together for the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk on campus.

Students from the Early Learning Center were joined by Banner Lake Academy students as they walked from the ELC to the playground by the Academy. Marlyn, a breast cancer survivor, led the way carrying a banner celebrating survivors. Students and staff followed behind her, walking side by side along the sidewalk.

Thank you to Marlyn for leading us, and to our students and staff for showing support in such a meaningful way.

Banner Lake Academy & Banner Lake Early Learning Center are coming together this October to make a difference! 💕🪙

From October 1–30, our classrooms will collect spare change to benefit United Way of Martin County, and on Friday, October 23, we’ll come together for our Walk for Awareness! 🎀👟

💗 Students and staff are encouraged to wear PINK in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

🏆 And there’s a little friendly competition—the classroom that raises the most will receive a special catered snack & celebration!

Ms. Kate and Ms. Lucy are Banner Lake Academy's academic specialists, working behind the scenes to help students, teachers, and families succeed. They support student learning by providing extra help and specialized instruction to students who need it, and they monitor progress using assessments and data to identify each child's strengths, needs, and growth. They also work with teachers and specialists to make sure students with IEPs and 504 Plans receive the support and accommodations they need.

Along with supporting students directly, Ms. Kate and Ms. Lucy support teachers through coaching, modeling, and instructional resources. They coordinate academic interventions by organizing RTI meetings and intervention plans, and they promote a love of reading through programs like the Little Library and Book Buddies. Their goal is to work together with teachers and families to help every student learn, grow, and succeed.

Banner Lake is reaching out to the community!

On Thursday, we hosted our Community Business Partner Tour, welcoming business owners from the Hobe Sound area to visit our campus and get to know who we are. We were glad to host Kirsten Stevens with Kannico; Kellie Sweet and Lindsay Thomas with Seacoast Bank, Hobe Sound Branch; Dr. Natalie Lewis with Natalie Lewis Acupuncture; and Ryan Jahn with Films Remembered.

Banner Lake Academy hosted Curriculum Night on September 9, 2026, welcoming Kindergarten through 5th grade students and their families to campus for an evening focused on the year ahead. Families moved through the halls to visit their children's classrooms and meet directly with teachers.

In each classroom, teachers walked parents through what students would be learning this school year. They covered key subjects, classroom expectations, and the skills and milestones students would work toward, giving families a clear picture of what to expect in the months ahead.

House of Hope welcomed families as they arrived, greeting everyone at the entrance with healthy snacks. Their team spoke with students about nutrition and healthy habits, handing out a variety of nutritious food options and encouraging kids to think about the choices they make every day.

Curriculum Night gave Banner Lake Academy families a chance to connect with teachers, get a preview of the year's learning goals, and start the school year with a stronger sense of what's ahead for their students.
