This week, the Harris County Retired Educators Association proudly presented appreciation gifts to all Harris County School District Teachers and Support Personnel of the Year in recognition of their hard work, dedication, and commitment to our students and schools.

The gifts were presented on behalf of HCREA by Linda Cook, HCREA President; Sandy Gradewell, HCREA President-Elect; Kathie Berends, HCREA Secretary; and Donna Durham, HCREA Membership Chair.

“We are proud to recognize the incredible educators and support personnel who make a difference in the lives of students every day,” said Linda Cook. “Their dedication, compassion, and commitment to excellence deserve to be celebrated.”

Thank you to all of our outstanding honorees for the positive impact you make throughout Harris County Schools! HCSD also extends sincere appreciation to HCREA for their continued support, encouragement, and recognition of our faculty and staff.

🍎 A well-deserved honor for a dedicated educator in Harris County Schools!

Grace Metsinger, first grade teacher of Mulberry Creek Elementary School, was recently surprised with the “One Class At A Time” award, recognizing teachers who go above and beyond for their students each and every day.

Students, coworkers, and supporters gathered to celebrate Metsinger’s commitment to not only educating children, but caring for them as individuals.

“It’s really good to be appreciated,” Metsinger said. “Just to be seen — not just by the students, but by the parents too — and for them to see how much we really do care about these babies and their children, not just as students, but as people.”

Principal Amy Allen praised Metsinger’s dedication, saying she works hard to personally know each student and help them become the best they can be.

The “One Class At A Time” initiative helps recognize outstanding educators while also providing additional classroom support and resources. The award was sponsored by Daniel Appliance and community supporter Ron Daniel.

Congratulations to Grace Metsinger for making a lasting difference in the lives of her students! 👏📚❤️
