Save the Date, June 18, 2026, and Celebrate National Great Outdoors Month with Us!

CT RC&D is excited to join the Air Line State Park Trail Alliance (ALSPTA) at the 3rd Thursday Street Fest in downtown Willimantic, CT, on June 18, 2026.

Since 2017, CT RC&D has worked to support and promote the Air Line State Park Trail and formalize the ALSPTA. The ALSPTA is a collaborative twelve-town regional partnership established in 2025 to coordinate planning and communication focused on maintenance and improvements, funding sources, and the promotion of the trail as a recreational and economic community builder.

The Alliance works to support the trail's long-term success through connecting communities, enhancing visitor experiences, and organizing events and outreach that encourage inclusive use of the trail system.

Join us as we celebrate the Air Line State Park Trail and all the ways it connects our communities through outdoor recreation, conservation, local partnerships, and family fun.

🌱Compost — Feed the Soil that Feeds Us!

Food scraps and yard waste don’t belong in the trash; they belong back in the soil. Composting helps reduce waste, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and build healthier soils right here in Connecticut.

CT RC&D is proud to help administer the CT Compost Alliance to promote statewide waste diversion and soil vitality through compost education.

👉🏼Do you want to get involved or learn more about composting in your community?

The goal of this event is to bring awareness to climate impacts, provide moral support, share resources and technical info, and help each other think about how to build resilience.

🎉Celebrating National Volunteer Week and Our ERT Volunteers!

This week, we’re proud to recognize the incredible volunteers who power our Environmental Review Team (ERT) Program. These dedicated technical experts generously share their time and knowledge to support local decision-making and strengthen conservation efforts across our communities.

We celebrated and thanked our volunteers at yesterday’s ERT Volunteer Recognition Event at Priam Vineyards in Colchester, CT, and catered by These Guys Brewing Co LLC in Norwich. It’s a small gesture for the big impact they make every day. Their expertise, commitment, and passion make a real difference.

Are you interested in supporting Connecticut’s communities and natural resources with your technical expertise? We’re always looking for passionate volunteers to join the Environmental Review Team.
