Below is the proposed agenda for the Butler County Board of Education regular meeting that will be conducted on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Central Office Boardroom located at 949 Oglesby Street in Greenville, Alabama. The public is encouraged to attend.

All Butler County Schools will release students at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026. Please note that there will be no extended day or after-school services available on this date. Staff members will continue their regular work schedule for the remainder of the day. We wish everyone a safe, restful, and enjoyable summer break!

This survey is specifically for Butler County Schools parents of students receiving services through an IEP. Feedback from this survey will be used by BCSS during our special education evaluation and improvement process for the 2026–2027 school year. 🗓 Deadline: May 18, 2026

This survey is for parents of Alabama students who receive services through an Individualized Education Program (IEP). BCSS staff do not have access to individual survey results. Results are only shared later in statewide ALSDE reports. 🗓 Deadline: July 30, 2026

The Career & Resource Fair is going on today at LBW.

Butler County Gifted & Talented students visited iFly Indoor Skydiving facility in Atlanta, Georgia on Monday, May 4, 2026. The students participated in demonstrations and STEM lessons that highlighted stem careers and concepts in physics. After completing flying instruction and safety training, each student was allowed flying time with one-on-one supervision in the wind tunnel.

🏆Congratulations to Greenville Elementary School on winning the Attendance Challenge for the month of April with an outstanding 94.7%!
Here are the final standings:

1st Place: Greenville Elementary School – 94.7%
2nd Place: McKenzie School – 93.3%
3rd Place: W.O. Parmer School – 92.6%
4th Place: Greenville Middle School – 92.3%
5th Place: Georgiana School – 90.7%
6th Place: Greenville High School – 90.6%
A special thank you to Ms. Cook and the entire Greenville Elementary team for their commitment to attendance this year.

Having every school above 90% attendance for April is something to be very proud of. Thank you for your continued focus on supporting student success through strong attendance.
