A big thank you to PBSO and everyone who helped make this event such a treat for our community!

Keeping our firefighters safe means investing in the equipment they rely on every day. Bunker gear must be replaced after 10 years to meet current safety standards, making this an essential investment in firefighter safety and an important part of our long-term budget planning.

But what does that equipment cost?

Since 2019, the cost of bunker gear, the protective suits firefighters wear on the front lines and in training, has increased a staggering 104%, from $2,054 to $4,200 per set.

Safer Homes = Stronger Community

Greenacres teamed up with the American Red Cross to help keep our neighbors safe in Colonial Estates through free smoke detector installations and fire safety education!

Together, we made a meaningful impact:
🏠 326 homes reached
🚨 78 free smoke detectors installed
📚 176 residents educated on fire safety

A working smoke detector can make all the difference in an emergency. We’re proud to partner with organizations like the American Red Cross to help protect our community, one home at a time.

Local government budgeting means planning ahead. Fire Rescue vehicle costs have risen dramatically: ladder trucks 155%, fire engines 97%, and rescue trucks 65%.

With delivery times growing and lifespans of just 7–12 years, these essential replacements require ongoing planning.
