🏡 More housing opportunities are on the horizon in Egremont!

We're excited to share that Egremont has received $60,687 in new state funding to help expand Impact South County's housing development near Town Hall!

We're already moving forward with four new homes designed to help local residents live in the community they call home. This new funding will support the groundwork for additional housing opportunities.

In a region where rising housing costs make it increasingly difficult for people to live where they work, investments like these matter.

We're grateful for our partnership with the Town of Egremont Government and its Housing Trust, and for the state's investment in housing solutions that strengthen our communities.

A big step forward for 100 Bridge Street. 🌱

This week, we welcomed neighbors and community members to a public meeting about the environmental work underway at this former industrial property in Great Barrington.

For more than two decades, Impact South County has been working to transform this long-neglected site into something our community can use and enjoy. After years of investigation, cleanup, monitoring, and more than $3 million invested in the property, we’ve reached an important environmental milestone that moves us closer to a very different future for this land.

That future includes new homes, open space, and public access to the Housatonic River.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, asked thoughtful questions, and took the time to learn more about this complex work. And thank you to the many partners who have helped move this transformation forward over the years.

There is still work ahead, but it’s exciting to see what was once an abandoned industrial site becoming a place with so much possibility for our community. ❤️

You’ll hear about the homes taking shape in our community, the local entrepreneurs we’re supporting, the transformation underway at 100 Bridge Street, and our vision for the years ahead.

Most of all, you’ll see what can happen when people across South County come together around a shared belief: that this should be a community where people can build a life and a future.

Erik (board president) and Keegan (dir. of operations and engagement) had the pleasure of chatting with Emily Haber, MACDC President & CEO, at the MACDC annual conference this past Wednesday.

“This annual conference is a great reminder that we can learn so much from each other,” says Keegan, "I feel inspired and energized by the people I met, the ideas that were shared, and the collective commitment to building a stronger and more vibrant community across Massachusetts!”

MACDC is the Massachusetts Association of Community Development Corporations, of which Impact South County is a member. MACDC acts as the capacity-building, policy, and advocacy arm for the community economic development movement across Massachusetts.

Big moves in Egremont! 🏗️

Prefabricated sections for our Workforce Ownership Housing Project were officially craned into place at 171 Egremont Plain Road this morning.

This pilot project creates two new duplex homes designed for local residents who live and work in the region. Each duplex features a 3-bedroom owner's unit alongside a 2-bedroom rental unit, providing local homeowners the opportunity to generate rental income while creating an additional home for a local family.

Kudos to the team for bringing us another step closer to completion! 🙌
