🚨 ALERT TO THE PUBLIC 🚨

The Gorham Police Department has been made aware of a scam involving someone spoofing the department’s phone system and falsely identifying themselves as a Gorham Police Department employee.

Please remember:

* The Gorham Police Department does not randomly call residents requesting personal or financial information.
* If we contact you, we will identify ourselves and explain the specific reason for the call.
* Legitimate calls from the department should originate from a 207-222-###X number.
* If you receive a suspicious call, do not provide personal, financial, or other sensitive information.
* Ask the caller for their name and reason for the call, and let them know you would like to verify their identity by calling the department directly.
* You can contact our dispatch center at 207-893-2810 and select option 2 to verify whether the call was legitimate.

When in doubt, hang up and call us back directly. Do not rely on the phone number displayed on your caller ID, as scammers can spoof legitimate numbers.
