The Town of Gorham is pleased to announce that public nominations are now open for the 2026 Spirit of America Award. This annual recognition honors local individuals, organizations, and projects whose service reflects the very best of community spirit, volunteerism, and civic responsibility.

Nominations will be accepted from May 20 through June 12, 2026, and must be submitted using the online nomination form.

Residents are encouraged to recognize those who have made a meaningful and lasting impact on Gorham through acts of service, leadership, and community-building efforts—often carried out without expectation of recognition.

Thank you to everyone who came out for this year’s Memorial Day events. We truly appreciate the support, participation, and flexibility in adapting to the changes. A special thank you to Gorham Public Works, Gorham Fire Department, Gorham Police Department , the VFW Post 10879, Gorham VIPS, the Boys Scouts, Girls Scouts & Cub Scouts and everyone who took part in making the day possible.

*Memorial Day Parade & Service Update*

Due to the forecast of heavy rain during the duration todays planned events we have decided to modify the parade to vehicles only and no walkers. We will still meet at Village School and line up at 10:00am and the parade will still step off at 11:00am with the same parade route.

The ceremony has been moved from the Eastern Cemetery to the council chambers at the Gorham Municipal Center (75 South St, Gorham, ME 04038). The ceremony will start at approximately 11:45am.
