🎃👻 SPOOKTACULAR HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS! 👻🎃
🧡 Daviess County Health Department wants to wish everyone a FUN, SAFE, and SPOOKY Halloween! 🦇🍬
Before your little ghosts, goblins, witches, and superheroes head out for trick-or-treating, remember these important safety tips! 🧙♀️🦸♂️
🔦 BE SEEN, BE SAFE!
Wear bright-colored costumes, add reflective tape to costumes and candy bags, and carry a flashlight or glow sticks to help drivers see you!
👨👩👧👦 STICK TOGETHER!
Young children should always trick-or-treat with a parent or responsible adult. Older children should travel in groups and have a planned route.
🚗 WATCH OUT FOR TRAFFIC!
Always use sidewalks and crosswalks when available. Look LEFT, RIGHT, and LEFT again before crossing the street. Never assume drivers can see you!
🏡 VISIT SAFE & WELL-LIT HOMES!
Stick to familiar neighborhoods and well-lit areas. Never enter a stranger's home or vehicle.
🍭 CHECK YOUR TREATS!
Parents should inspect Halloween candy before children dig in! Avoid treats with opened or damaged packaging. Be mindful of food allergies and choking hazards for younger children.
🎭 COSTUME SAFETY MATTERS!
Choose costumes that fit properly to prevent trips and falls. Use non-toxic face paint instead of masks that block vision. Make sure costumes and accessories are flame-resistant.
📱 STAY CONNECTED!
Make sure older children have a way to contact an adult and know when to return home.
🚘 DRIVERS, BE EXTRA ALERT!
Slow down in neighborhoods, watch carefully for children crossing streets, and avoid distractions while driving.
💜 BE KIND & HAVE FUN!
Remember that not all children communicate the same way. Be patient, welcoming, and respectful of every trick-or-treater! 💚
🎃✨ A LITTLE CAUTION KEEPS THE FRIGHTFUL FUN SAFE FOR EVERYONE! ✨🎃
🧡 From all of us at Daviess County Health Department, we wish you and your family a SAFE, HAPPY & BOO-TIFUL HALLOWEEN! 👻🍬🕷️
