I set out to do farm chores, but got distracted watching our young chickens explore their new yard setups. They are loving all the branches and sticks, while our little duck is still convinced he is a chicken and refuses to take the plunge. The turkeys are back to acting like giant lap dogs now that breeding season is over, so I call that a successful morning.

You guys saved the pasture pumpkins. My husband threatened to mow the entire vine down, but your comments convinced him to leave it alone. The vines are officially taking over the pig pasture, climbing the fence, and invading the donkey area. The pigs are already knocking a few off, so they are living on top of the fence posts for now until we share them with the local wildlife.

Just when I thought I was only taking a quick stroll to look for eggs, a adorable little frog stopped me in my tracks and Tonka went on high alert over what turned out to be a crabapple.
