Little bit of a light show this early Friday morning that brought a tree down with live wires on Cooks Cross Road in Union Twp.

The road will be closed between Pittstown Road and Perryville Road. NJSP, JCPL and Union Twp DPW all coming out to assist.

In August, the Quakertown Fire Company responded to 67 calls for service which resulted in 35 Division of Fire responses and 34 Division of EMS responses respectively.

In addition to answering calls, QFC trained on water supply, hoseline advancement and treating sports injuries. The QFC kitchen crew cooked a bbq picnic for the Franklin Twp Seniors and started the planning for our Amerifest celebration on October 3rd!

Information Release

On Monday, August 31st at 09:25, Quakertown Fire Company (Fire and EMS), Hunterdon Medical Center Paramedics and Franklin Twp Police were dispatched to a burn patient on Upper Kingtown Road in Franklin Twp. QFC personnel arrived to find a patient who was lighting a permitted open burn when the incident occured cause significant burns over 25% of the body.

The patient was transported to Lehigh Valley HN-Cedar Crest.by QFC Ambulance with HMC Paramedics due to it's burn center capability. Brush 91 and Tender 91-1 responded to the scene to extinguish the fire that was still burning.

Once the fire was controlled and extinguished, all fire units were released and back in service by 11AM. The incident was investigated hy Franklin Township Bureau of Fire Safety and the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.

On Monday night, worked on water with a focus on rural water set-ups. From setting up a dumpsite to using the jumbo Siamese valve to supply the Engine Company which fed the Ladder Company, a great night of reviewing techniques which are vital to fighting fires in non-hydrant areas.

On Monday night, QFC members conducted training on Fire and EMS topics. The Fire training focused on the fundamentals of “pulling and packing handlines”.

On the EMS side, our team drilled with the training staff of Del Val and the St Luke’s medical team that will on the sidelines for Del Val Football games this year. Topics reviewed included how everyone will work together in the case of significant player injuries as well the equipment the football team wears.

The training was timely as Del Val hosts North Hunterdon this Thursday night at 6pm. A total of 33 QFC firefighters and EMTs attended the Monday night drill.

Around 4:30 on Wednesday, QFC was requested automatic aid to the Holland Twp Volunteer Fire Company for the barn fire. Rescue 91, Tender 91-2 and the Chief responded on the alarm and operated for about 5 hours .
