Only one week remains to register for our childrenโ€™s creative arts grief support group beginning later this month.

Through art, creativity, and peer connection, children are given space to express feelings, build resilience, and discover they are not alone in their experiences.

This six-week group is free and open to grieving children in the community.

Weโ€™re proud to spotlight Kim Winiker, MD, one of our Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellows for 2025โ€“2026.

Kim earned his MD from the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine and currently serves as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh.

Drawn to caring for patients facing serious illness, Kim believes meaningful care begins with understanding each personโ€™s hopes, fears, and what matters most to them. His thoughtful approach to medicine reflects the compassion and connection at the heart of palliative care.

Outside of medicine, Kim enjoys skiing, yoga and meditation, ultimate Frisbee, and travel.

Weโ€™re grateful to have him as part of The Elizabeth Hospice fellowship program.

Today, we join the oncology and palliative care community in recognizing Frank D. Ferris, MD, FAAHPM, FAACE, FASCO, recipient of the Walther Cancer Foundation Supportive Oncology Award, presented during the ASCO Annual Meeting.

This honor reflects Dr. Ferrisโ€™ enduring leadership in palliative and supportive oncology and his lifelong commitment to reducing suffering and improving quality of life for patients and families facing cancer.

We are grateful for his contributions to the field and for the example he continues to set for compassionate, patient-centered care.

Children process loss differently and often, they need safe and supportive ways to express emotions that are difficult to put into words.

This summer, The Elizabeth Hospice is offering a free six-week creative arts grief support group for children in the community who are experiencing the loss of a parent, sibling, or other significant person.

Through art, connection, and guided activities, children can explore feelings, build healthy coping skills, and find comfort alongside peers who understand.
