A project we’re incredibly proud of.
This playground transformation for Growing Minds came together beautifully. Thoughtful design, shaded play structures, vibrant spaces for imagination, and plenty of room to learn and play. A lot of hard work went into every detail, and the final result made it all worth it.

Being outside naturally encourages people to move more. Parks, trails, playgrounds, and open green spaces invite walking, running, climbing, swinging, sliding, and exploring without exercise feeling forced or structured.

Even everyday outdoor spaces can support movement. A backyard can become a place for active play, gardening, digging, building, and discovering new things. These simple activities help children and adults stay active while connecting with the environment around them.

Access to nature helps make movement a regular part of daily life by creating spaces people genuinely want to spend time in.

Research shows that children benefit cognitively from regular interaction with natural environments. Outdoor play in nature supports attention, memory, problem-solving, and flexible thinking by giving children opportunities to explore, adapt, and make decisions during play.

Natural elements like logs, rocks, plants, uneven surfaces, and loose materials create experiences that engage the brain differently than more structured environments. These types of play settings encourage curiosity, creativity, and active learning.

Nature-based play is more than outdoor recreation. It plays an important role in healthy cognitive development.

Lavender is one of our favorite additions to planter boxes. It smells amazing, adds beautiful color, and can even help keep some bugs away. It's also a yummy addition to a favorite drink: lemonade! Try this simple lavender lemonade recipe for a refreshing spring drink!

Ingredients:
• 1 cup water
• 1 cup sugar
• 2 tbsp lavender
• 1 cup fresh lemon juice
• 4–6 cups cold water
• Ice + lemon slices for serving

Directions: Simmer water, sugar, and lavender for 5 minutes to create a simple syrup. Let cool, then strain out the lavender. Mix the syrup with lemon juice and cold water. Serve over ice and enjoy! Perfect for warm afternoons and outdoor spaces.

Studies show that children who spend time in nature experience lower stress levels and improved mood, with some research linking green space exposure to reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression. Even short periods outdoors can have a calming effect.

Nature creates space for children to reset, build resilience, and support their overall emotional well-being.
