October is Head Start Awareness Month, and I've had the opportunity to visit several Riverbend Head Start locations throughout the month as part of their Showcase Days!

This morning, I joined State Representative Amy Elik in Granite City to see firsthand the great work being done to help our youngest learners get a strong start.

A big thank you to the teachers, staff, and everyone at Riverbend Head Start for all you do for our kids and families!

Crisis Food Center is there for our neighbors when they need a little extra help, and I’m grateful for the work they do every day to make sure families in our community have food on the table.

I was happy to secure funding to help them make some needed lighting upgrades that will lower their energy costs and allow more resources to go toward the people they serve.

My office has been hearing from many of you concerned about the ongoing contract dispute between Aetna and BJC and what it could mean for state retirees who rely on BJC doctors and providers.

We are doing everything we can to help bring the parties back to the negotiating table and make sure our retirees are not left behind.

Friday afternoon, I helped lead an effort with my colleagues in the House and Senate to urge BJC, Aetna, and the Illinois Department of Central Management Services to continue working toward a solution.

Our retirees deserve access to the doctors and care they depend on, and I will continue pushing for answers and a resolution.

Our Edwardsville office was full of Halloween fun yesterday! We loved welcoming all the little trick or treaters who stopped by for candy as part of the The City of Edwardsville of Edwardsville’s Downtown Trick-or-Treating on Main Street!

It was so nice visiting with families, seeing all the creative costumes and being part of this fun community tradition. Thanks to everyone who stopped by! You certainly made our afternoon a little sweeter!

Drost Park is a great place for families to get outside and spend time together!

I was happy to secure $90,000 in state funding to help the The Village of Maryville build a new restroom facility at the park.

The State of Illinois, Aetna and BJC HealthCare need to come to the table and find a solution. Our retirees should not be left paying the price.
