Edwardsville Public Works Department will be sweeping curbed streets starting April 1st. You will be notified by door hangers the day prior to sweeping your street . We ask that you park your cars in your driveway or free parking is allowed at the Community Center. Having vehicles off the streets during this time ensures that we are able to remove all debris. This is important to our Stormwater Prevention Plan.

Thank You,
Public Works

Point of fact: our new distric rep not only voted for this but argued for it. Complete waste of taxpayer time and money. I’m seriously considering skipping local politics and running for district 33 this November.

The Kansas deal to attract the Chiefs carries significant downsides for taxpayers. While officials emphasize that no new taxes are required, the state still assumes substantial financial risk if projected revenues fail to materialize, while the team retains most long-term profits. Decades of economic research show that publicly funded stadiums rarely deliver the promised economic growth, often shifting existing spending rather than creating new wealth. Most jobs generated are temporary or low-wage, providing limited lasting benefit to Kansas residents. Perhaps most concerning is the opportunity cost: committing billions in public resources to a stadium limits the state’s ability to invest in core priorities such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure, while the benefits remain unevenly distributed and concentrated around the development area.

Right now Wyandotte county assesses property tax based on speculative market valuation. Look at the bottom two lines. There are more fair approaches that won’t tax people out of their homes.

Here are three compelling reasons for Kansas to accept Medicaid expansion:

Improved Health Outcomes:

Expanding Medicaid would provide more low-income Kansans with access to essential healthcare services. This could lead to better health outcomes, particularly for those with chronic conditions, mental health needs, and preventive care. By making healthcare more accessible, Medicaid expansion could help reduce preventable hospitalizations and improve overall public health.

Economic Benefits:

Medicaid expansion would bring federal funds into the state, which could support local economies and create jobs. The federal government would cover 90% of the costs, relieving the state from a significant financial burden while still allowing access to healthcare for thousands of Kansans. Additionally, expanding Medicaid can reduce uncompensated care costs for hospitals, which could benefit healthcare providers across the state.

Reducing Uninsured Rates:

Kansas has a significant number of uninsured residents, many of whom fall into the coverage gap—earning too much to qualify for Medicaid but too little to afford private insurance. Expanding Medicaid would help fill this gap, ensuring that more people can access necessary healthcare services and decreasing the number of uninsured individuals in the state. This can also reduce strain on emergency rooms and public health programs.

Those are just a few key reasons that could positively impact Kansas residents and the state's healthcare system as a whole.
