DHS Fire cadets always enjoy search and rescue practice! Yesterday students worked on learning to orient themselves while blindfolded!

It’s a beautiful day to do some drills! DHS Fire students spent the class learning to make themselves small enough to swim through a ladder. Cadets finished up with some ropes and knots practice.

Two of our former cadets had the opportunity to attend the See Your Next Step event at MCCC. Elena and Alana joined other incredible women in trades on the panel to talk to 9th and 10th grade girls about trade programs! We are excited to have more opportunities to encourage young ladies to look into our program!

If you or someone you know are interested in Fire or EMT, encourage them to contact their school counselor, local CTE coordinator or the Monroe county ISD!

We would like to take a moment to Thank Elmwood Fire Department and Ottawa Lake Volunteer Fire Department for the generous donation of equipment for our FIRE program! Without the ongoing support from our community, we would not have the abundance of resources that have made this program what it is today.

Hands on learning is a vital part of our fire program. Students are already working on perfecting their PPE and Airpack skills. Our cadets will continue to work on these stations throught the year to prepare for their final practical!

This week the students have been studying hard for their first test of the year! This test covers the groundwork of the fire service such as Firefighter Health and Safety, Fire Service Communications, Fire Behavior, and more! Please help us wish them luck for the test on Wednesday!

Meet our Fifth year Fire students! These students have been working hard on practical skills and book work! We cannot wait to see how these students flourish throughout the year!

Although the fire students do lots of hands-on practice, they also work diligently in their textbooks! There is 36 chapters in the book and students have spent hours studying them! Keep up the great work!

Do you know an upcoming high school junior or senior who is interested in serving their community after graduating? The DHS FIRE Academy is the perfect program for hands-on, eager learners! If you know someone who is interested, encourage them to speak to their guidance counselor!

We’d like to introduce our final senior!

Anthony Sandstrom is a first year fire student! After graduating he plans on attending college. Outside of class he enjoys working. His favorite part of the program is the hands-on drills!

Congratulations Anthony, we are so proud of you!
