The wage range is $26.93 to $45.13 per hour depending on experience, POST certification, and military experience.

Today, May 15th, is Peace Officers Memorial Day. This is a day to honor the brave peace officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Their courage, service, and dedication to protecting our communities will never be forgotten.

On this day, we want to recognize two local officers that tragically passed in the line of duty.
Patrolman Chris S. Logsdon- End of Watch October 13, 1998
Deputy Bryan Phillip Gross - End of Watch July 28, 2011

May the 4th be with you, Douglas! It is time for the monthly department activity report to recap police activity in the month of April.

In April, DPD received 616 calls for service, including:
-8 drug/ alcohol related calls for service
-9 custodial arrests
-28 crimes against people
-22 criminal citations
-87 traffic stops
- 122 extra patrols

SCAM ALERT: Residents of Douglas are receiving the attached image in reference to a traffic violation. These messages are fraudulent in nature. Be sure to report the message as junk and block the sender. A good way of identifying these scams is noticing there is no personal information on this- there is no name, address, vehicle description, or plate number. This is a good indicator that it’s a scam. Also, there is no municipal court for Laramie County. If you are really truly worried about having an outstanding ticket, contact the jurisdiction directly, do not reply to the sender of this message.

Today the Douglas Police Department bids farewell to our fearless leader, Chief Byerly. Chief Byerly is off to enjoy retirement. As Chief, he worked tirelessly to improve every aspect of our service to the community and the quality of the workplace. We will be forever grateful to Chief Byerly for his dedication to service of our community and department. We are better as a department because of his time with us.
