Hold corporations accountable for their actions!

On May 19th, 2026, Whitfield County Republican voters sent a clear message:

Over 80% oppose broad legal immunity for corporations tied to PFAS pollution and support holding polluters fully accountable for cleanup and damages.

That means voters here in Dalton and Whitfield County do not support bills like HB 211 and SB 577 that would grant broad legal protections to corporations at the expense of local communities, public health, and individual rights.

We local Republicans believe in protecting our water, property rights, public health, and the people who actually live here, not shielding massive corporations from accountability.

Actions have consequences. People matter more than profits!

Any bill similar to HB 211 or SB 577 sponsored next session will be going against the direct wishes of the local voters. May our local legislators keep this in mind going forward.

We stand with Corporal Shackleford and the law! We need more hardworking law enforcement officers like her.

Recently, one of our north Georgia Troopers has come under attack by a local media outlet which sought to villainize her for stopping vehicles and making arrests which were appropriate and in accordance with Georgia law. The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) has not changed its day-to-day law enforcement operations or practices for compliance with the 287g program. Georgia law authorizes and requires DPS Troopers and Officers to conduct a traffic stop when they have reasonable articulable suspicion or sufficient probable cause to believe the motorist is in violation of a Georgia traffic law. Sworn DPS members do not stop motorists or anyone else for the purpose of checking any immigration status. Should a DPS Trooper or Officer discover that a lawfully stopped motorist was driving while unlicensed, which is an arrestable offense in Georgia, they will transport the driver to the local jail for processing as is the normal course of action for an arrestee in these circumstances.

Corporal Shackleford has our agency’s full support in this matter. While we do not wish to give further attention to this attempt to defame her, we feel compelled to show our support for her and all of our DPS sworn members in their continuing efforts to keep our roadways safe. Immigration enforcement is certainly a divisive topic in our nation, but driving without a valid license in our state is an arrestable offense, citizen or non-citizen alike.

Protect our rural land from aggressive, high-density development! Over the last few years, the central and north end of Whitfield County have seen massive residential developments spring up suddenly, while the south end has faced growing industrial expansion. While responsible growth can be good, these sudden changes impact our infrastructure, property value assessments, traffic, schools, utilities, and overall quality of life across the county.

Time after time, public meetings have been packed with homeowners and citizens voicing serious concern and exhaustion over the pace and scale of this rapid development.

On May 19th, 2026, Republican voters sent a very clear message:

Local communities should have greater authority in zoning decisions that directly affect them!

Let’s continue to pack these zoning and commissioner meetings going forward and push for the change we desire!

Restore our history! Joseph E. Johnston saved the city of Dalton from being razed and burned to the ground by Sherman’s Army during his Atlanta Campaign. Many local lives, no doubt some of our ancestors, and much history was preserved thanks to Johnston’s actions around Dalton. Since the early 1900s, his statue sat in downtown Dalton for all to see in order to honor his actions and protection of our city. In 2021, it was secretly removed in the middle of the night.

On May 19th of 2026, Republican voters made it very clear:

We want the statue back!

Our Chairman joined Roy Hambrick on his podcast small town underground to discuss the successful results of our ballot question results and our reasoning behind putting them on the ballot. We think these questions, and results, are very important and show where local Republican voters stand.
