It’s a sad day in the state of Georgia. It has come to my attention that the NBA has chosen to award its contract to Amazon and Amazon prime instead of Turner Broadcasting and TNT. It is my understanding that the money was the same but the NBA decided Amazon was the future. I urge the NBA to rethink it’s decision, because it will cost over 200 individuals in our state a job. I typically stay out of competitive bids because I truly believe competition makes us all better. However if two bids are exactly the same I’m not sure how a history of results can be ignored. I look forward to hearing from my friends with the NBA and with Amazon to discuss such important matters.

Let it be resolved that our Whitfield County Republican Party does not understand how a TAD works. Let it further be resolved that Whitfield County received over $5,000 in tax collections the month of February alone that would not have been collected had our Hotel not been in existence. let it further be resolved that the owners did not make money in February but the County profited tremendously.
Let it further be resolved that the county received in excess of $120,000 worth of sales tax during the construction of the hotel not to mention the multiplier that occurs in your community when you use local vendors.

The TAD made this project feasible and will be a boon for Downtown Dalton and our community for the next 100 years.

I look forward to see if when the State GOP convention comes to Dalton if my fellow Republicans will stay with us.

As we enter 2024,  I just want to say what a pleasure it is to serve the citizens of Dalton and Whitfield County. I believe the best is yet to come for our community and our state. Starting next Monday, I will be making the daily pilgrimage down to the gold dome. I look forward to serving each and everyone of you. Please let me know if I can be of assistance because ultimately that is why I do it in the first place. I can’t think of a greater honor than to serve the community that I love so much. Have a great New Year’s and I hope you ate your black eyed peas and turnip greens. If not you can always head to the Oakwood tomorrow and play catch up.

Just voted to Ratify the governor’s executive order to remove gas/diesel taxes from 9/12-11/30. I know everyone saw the savings at the pump, but most don’t realize the saving they saw at the grocery store. 25 percent of the cost of your food is transportation costs. Thanks to the governor and the legislature your food prices were reduced during this period. As a state, we can’t undue the effects of inflation brought on us from failed federal policies. However this tax reduction gave a glimmer of hope of what could be possible when government is ran in a fiscally responsible manner.
