This week we have been learning about bats and spiders! Today we pretended to be spiders catching bugs in our webs. The children had so much fun being gently rolled up like little bugs and stored away in the spider’s web. This playful activity encouraged imagination, movement, and lots of giggles as we explored how spiders catch and store their food.

When my mom brought me to Friendship House, I was three years old. My little brother was six months old and had been diagnosed with leukemia. My dad moved out and my mother had to take my brother to Egleston, me to Friendship House and keep working to pay for everything. My brother came to Friendship House as soon as his doctor said it was OK. He is now a student at Dalton State College and I am in the army serving in Alaska as a child, I didn’t understand what quality, affordable childcare meant to my mom while she struggled to keep it all together for us, but now appreciate all the Friendship House made possible for us as I am expecting my first child in the fall.

Community Helpers: Police Officers 👮‍♀️🚔

Today, we learned about police officers and how they help keep our community safe! The children practiced their listening and communication skills as they took turns pretending to call the police for help with an emergency situation they created. They listened to their classmates explain their pretend emergencies and discussed how police officers respond to different situations. This fun, hands-on activity encouraged imagination, role-playing, and an understanding of how police officers serve and protect our community! 💙
