Neill Elementary On behalf of the Edward D. Neill Elementary School staff, we welcome you to our school page. It is a privilege to have your child at our school.

Our goal at Neill Elementary is to meet the needs of all learners. Welcome to Neill Elementary, where happy and supported staff make for happy and supported students. We love welcoming young people into our nurturing academic community, where they find joy in learning the basics while building positive relationships with peers. We have created a family-oriented community that draws out the best in each child. Neill
offers:

A vibrant educational environment that celebrates children of all cultures and abilities
Annual special events and gatherings to honor students and bring our school family together
Classes and curriculum in which students see their culture, their experiences and themselves
A deep connection between home and school, where parents and teachers together provide support for students, inside and outside the classroom. At Neill, we make it a point to know every student and their family. Once families experience the special atmosphere here, they love it and stay. (Some of today’s parents attended Neill themselves!) Our active PTA sponsors an annual bingo night, dance and carnival, among other events. Along with the core curriculum, we help young people learn to self-regulate and center themselves so they can focus on school – skills that will serve them well through high school and after.

🌍 Reading without borders!

Today, Ms. Zenzen’s amazing 1st graders went on a global adventure without ever leaving their desks. 📚✨

The class teamed up to read a fascinating book about how children all over the world get their library books—from boats and buses to camels and elephants! 🐫🚌🐘

But the learning didn't stop there. Working in collaborative groups, our mini-scholars practiced their teamwork and critical thinking skills by writing their own comprehension questions. They put on their investigator hats to craft tough questions using Who, Where, and Why about what they read! 🕵️‍♂️📝

We love seeing our 1st graders working together, building their reading skills, and discovering how big the world really is.

🍪 Democracy never tasted so sweet!

Today, our amazing 2nd graders got a hands-on lesson in civic duty by participating in their very own election. The high-stakes ballot? Voting for the Ultimate Favorite Cookie! 🗳️✨

The classroom was filled with campaign energy as our mini-voters lined up, checked in, and cast their secret ballots. It was a fierce race between two legendary contenders: Team Oreo vs. Team Chocolate Chip.

They learned how every single voice matters and exactly what it means to make a choice at the ballot box!

Crucial election results are coming soon... Which cookie do you think took home the big win? 🏆

Drop your prediction below, and tell us: Which one would you have voted for? 👇

The Amazon rainforest came alive in Ms. Smith’s classroom this week! 🌿🐒

Our creative students have been diving deep into their special residency with the Como Park Zoo & Conservatory. They learned all about the layers of the rainforest, from the vibrant plants to the fascinating animals that call them home.

To prepare for their upcoming field trip to the zoo, the class put on their artist and scientist hats to build incredible, life-sized trees just like the ones they would see on their visit! 🎨🌳

We are so proud of our young explorers for working together and bringing their learning to life.

🚌 Safety first, Roadrunners! 🛑✨

Today was Bus Safety Day at Neill Elementary! All of our students had the opportunity to step onto the buses for a hands-on learning experience focused on keeping everyone safe on the ride to and from school. 🏫❤️🖤🤍

Our Roadrunners did a fantastic job learning all about:
• 👥 Bus Expectations: Practicing kindness, respect, and responsibility from the moment they step on board.
• 🛑 Riding Safely: Staying seated, keeping aisles clear, and watching out for the danger zones around the outside of the bus.
• 🚨 Emergency Evacuation: Learning exactly what to do and how to exit safely and quickly in case of an emergency.

We are so proud of our students for listening closely and showing great leadership today. A huge thank you to our wonderful transportation team for helping us keep Neill safe and smiling!

Kindness isn't just something we say—it's something we DO! 🏃‍♂️✨

At Neill Elementary, our students are hard at work tracking toward our goal of 500 acts of kindness. But behind the scenes, our amazing staff is bringing a little extra magic to school with a Secret Staff Spirit Week! 🤫❤️

While our Roadrunners only hear the daily Kindness Challenge, the staff is secretly bringing each day's "Words Matter" theme to life through what we wear. Today’s theme was Kindness in Action! Staff rocked their favorite workout gear, sneakers, and clothing featuring action words to remind everyone that kindness takes action every single day. 💪👟

Way to lead by example, Roadrunners staff! Keep those acts of kindness coming! 💙🦅
