We are saddened to learn Cpl. Mark Needham passed away this week. Cpl. Needham served with our department from March 1990 to March 2017. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this difficult time.

On National Dog Day, we want to take a moment to recognize our furry officers who show up every day for our community.🐾

CPPD has four canines on duty: Blitz, Dutch, Ronin and Valor.🐶🦴

These very good boys protect their handlers during every call and serve as their companion during long shifts. Their partnership is second to none.

We’re so grateful for our Crown Point Police K9 Unit!💙

Today is National Dog Day, and these four have earned it.

Meet the K9s of the Crown Point Police Department. They train constantly, they work hours most of us are asleep for, and they go first into places to protect those around them. They're working partners and somebody's family- both, all of the time.

To these four and the officers who handle them: thank you. 🐾

We are aware of a recent spoofing scam, where callers are claiming to be detectives/officers with the Crown Point Police Department, asking for personal information. Please do not fall for this scam.

While our officers may contact you, we will never:
🔵Ask you to pay a ticket over the phone.
🔵Arrest you for declining to pay a fine or ticket over the phone to a random scam caller.

As a friendly reminder, all official correspondence from the Crown Point Police Department, Crown Point City Courts and/or the Lake County Government Center will be sent via mail.

As we continue to clean up from the recent storms, please be wary of scammers.

➡️Be skeptical of those offering immediate clean-up or repair services without proper vetting.
➡️ Research contractors. Ask for licenses and proof of insurance. Call the Crown Point Building Department to verify a contractor is licensed in the City at 219-662-3239.
➡️FEMA does not charge application fees.
➡️Request estimates from multiple companies.
➡️Maintain written record of contracts.
➡️Never pay with wire transfers, gift cards, cryptocurrency or cash. Never pay the full amount upfront.

Due to the storm, all City of Crown Point offices are closed. The car cruise planned for today, Tuesday, Aug. 11, is canceled.

Power is out throughout most of Crown Point. Please avoid non-essential travel. Various roads throughout the City are closed from flooding, downed trees or downed power lines.

Crews are out cleaning up storm damage throughout the City. If you must travel, please expect delays and exercise extreme caution.
