In 2025, we conducted intakes for 401 new complaints of housing discrimination. The overwhelming majority of these fair housing complaints involved rental transactions. While disability remains the leading basis of complaints received, complaints of discrimination based upon race, s*x, criminal background, and source of income were also significant.

Last year, we provided over a thousand community referrals to connect families with other community resources. Our referrals helped residents remedy health and safety violations in their homes through code enforcement, access legal representation, learn how to escrow their rent, and access emergency rental assistance.

When we get calls from residents experiencing housing issues that fall outside of our scope of services, our advocates are happy to assist by providing you with a referral to an agency that can better help with your specific issue!

Thank you to everyone who took time out of their evening yesterday to show up for our neighbors in University Heights. Your voices were so impactful, and we deeply appreciate your courage, honesty, and moral clarity. When community members come together to stand up for what is right, there is a collective power that makes change possible. 💗

Please join us again on November 2nd to continue urging Council to maintain existing fair housing protections when they revisit this issue at their upcoming meeting.

Advocates, attorneys, veterans and residents urged city leaders not to weaken protections for voucher holders as litigation of Huntington Green Apartments continues.
