We offer our sincerest condolences to the Officer McWilliams' family, colleagues at the City of Sunrise Police Department, and the greater Sunrise community. May her memory live on through all of us through our actions, kindness, and service.

It is with profound sadness that the Sunrise Police Department announces the passing of Officer Roshanda McWilliams.
 
Officer McWilliams honorably served the Sunrise Police Department for seven years, devoting her career to serving others and making a difference in the lives of those around her. She was a valued member of our agency, a dedicated police officer, and a friend to so many. Her loss will be felt deeply throughout our department and our community.
 
Our hearts are with Officer McWilliam’s family, friends, loved ones, fellow officers, and all those whose lives were touched by her service. This is an incredibly difficult time for our Sunrise Police family and the law enforcement community as a whole.
 
We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming support we have received from our community, fellow law enforcement agencies, first responders, and everyone who has reached out to express their concern and offer their condolences. Your messages, prayers, and support mean more than words can express during this difficult time. 💙

Questions about cameras and privacy are valid. Communities should understand what technology captures, what it does not capture, and how information is used before adopting any public safety solution.
