Good Evening Hawks!

This is Principal Curtis Mitcham, calling with important information for Mount Holly Middle School families.

Reminders/Updates/Info for the week

Attention students, please bring all Math Elite Applications to Mrs. Stacie Bell by the end of the day Monday November 2nd.

Our United Way Campaign ends this Friday, November 6th. Our Hawk Pride Competition is heating up between the classes. Currently, the top four classes with the biggest donations are Mrs. Ray's Class, Mrs. Stephens ' Class, Mr. Scott's Class, and Mrs. Bell's Class. It is still time to send in donations to help your child's class win.

Carolina Photography will be at the school on Friday morning, November 6th for picture retakes. If your student was not photographed on the original picture day, they will be photographed on Friday for the yearbook and picture packages if you choose to order. Orders can be placed online at www.carolinaphoto.net or you can have your student pick up an order form from the office to send in cash or check on picture day. If your student is getting a retake, please send the original picture packet to school with your student on Friday.

Hello everyone! The art room is looking for donations of yarn (scraps and leftover yarn from previous projects are perfectly fine!) as well as fabric squares and scrap fabric. Any donations would be greatly appreciated as we stock the art room for our fall projects and begin preparing for the spring semester! Thank you so much for your support! From Ms. K

As we get closer to the holiday season, we want to make sure our families are aware of resources available for Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance. If your family could use some help this holiday season, please visit our school page to complete the short Google Form. You can also reach out directly to our school social worker, Kaitlyn Walton, with any questions or to discuss available resources.

Parents please remember to view your students' attendance records and academic progress in Infinite Campus. Students and parents/guardians have real-time access to all attendance & academic data within Infinite Campus, and we strongly encourage you all to use it regularly. If you're not sure what Infinite Campus is or how to navigate it, I encourage you to click here: https://www.gaston.k12.nc.us/for-parents/infinite-campus.

Please continue to encourage your child to do his/her best work, not just academically but behaviorally. We strive to provide a positive learning environment and we must all work together to make that happen. As a reminder, students must follow the GCS Student Code of Conduct and MHMS Student Handbook. Please remember that blankets are not allowed at school. Also, each day our bus drivers do their best to safely transport our students to and from school. It is important that your child follow bus expectations and behave on the bus. If your child does not follow expectations he/she will lose the privilege of riding the bus.

As a reminder, the building opens at 7:45 am where we receive and supervise students. The school day begins at 8:30am. Please make sure to have your child to school on time. Regular attendance is essential to student success. Every day at school gives students opportunities to learn, build relationships, and develop important skills. Even a few missed days can make it difficult to keep up. Please help your child arrive on time and attend school every day unless they are sick. Every day matters

Good Evening Hawks!

Reminders/Updates/Info for the week

Parents, It's time for our annual United Way Campaign! Last year, Mount Holly Middle School raised an incredible $7,028.65, earning 1st place for Gaston County Schools! We are incredibly proud of our Hawk families, students, and staff for their generosity and support. This year's Gaston County Schools United Way theme is “Do It for Dolly!” Our campaign will run from October 26 through November 6, and we are excited to see if we can surpass last year's total by 9.25%. Your child brought home a flyer outlining the special events and fundraising activities planned throughout the campaign. We encourage all families to review the flyer and participate in any way they can. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference! Let's come together once again to show the generosity and spirit of our Hawk community.

We wanted to remind you that Wednesday, October 28, is a Teacher Professional Development Day. Students will not have school on this day. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Thursday, October 29!

Parents, mark your calendars for our first quarter awards ceremonies! Sixth grade will celebrate on Tuesday, October 27; seventh grade on Thursday, October 29; and eighth grade on Friday, October 30. All ceremonies will begin at 9:00 a.m., with gym doors opening for parents and visitors around 8:45 a.m. Your child’s teachers will notify you by email if your child will be receiving an award. We look forward to celebrating your child’s academic achievements with you! Our PTO will be selling merchandise, magnets, and MHMS color inspired Pura Vida Bracelets for you to purchase while supplies last!

Our Fall Dance will be held on Friday, October 30 6:30pm - 8pm! Tickets are $5 when purchased during morning arrival Monday, October 26, through Friday, October 30. You can also purchase tickets through school funds online through Thursday October 29th. Tickets will also be available at the door for $7. Our PTO will be selling event passes for $20 as well during morning arrival. Students must follow the school dress code. Students who receive Out-of-School Suspension (OSS) on any day during the week of October 26–30 will not be permitted to participate in the school dance. We encourage all students to make positive choices and follow school expectations to ensure they can enjoy this event! For student safety, parents must drop off their children on MHMS school grounds and pick them up in the car rider line after the dance. Thank you for helping us ensure a safe and enjoyable event for our Hawks!
