It takes a village to raise a child.
Anna London's village was made up of teachers, her guidance counselors, and her grandmothers.
In this interview, she talks about being a young girl dealing with a lot at home, missing school, and not always feeling confident in the classroom.
But her village made sure she didn’t have to navigate any of it alone -- especially as a child.
That kind of support stays with you. In Anna’s case, it brought her right back to the classroom.
She’s now working to strengthen that same system that once held her up, making sure students have the support, structure, and care she experienced.
You can hear it in how she talks about education, and see it in the work she’s doing on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Board of Education.
